3 stars. Read in 2002 and again in July 2012.

I read this back in 2002 and then again in July 2012 when Amazon offered this for free. I read this a few months before I joined the Navy on January13,2003. I served 4 years, half the time as an undesignated Boatswain's Mate and the last half as a Gunners Mate E4. As far as religion and the military went, our ship's church was not that big. We had a small office work space as the "church" and one Chaplain for over 1,300 sailors. Also my ship was stationed in San Diego, Ca. It was nice being stationed just 2 hour drive (or Amtrak ride) from my family who lives in L.A. County.

True Devotion was an ok read. It's the only one of Dee's that I read. I was more a big Suzanne Brookeman fan at the time. I was intrigued by the storyline and really liked Joe "Bear." But I felt Kelly is hard to like. She got on my nerves to much for me to like her.

I ended up skipping past some pages that had a faith agenda. There are some Christian Lit that I don't mind. Joe and Kelly's faith starts of believable and a little nice to read in small dosages. But then it became redundant and too long of a descriptive. I felt that it took away from the story and that's why I now skip past the religious parts.

Other than that, the storyline has a typical suspense mystery and a PG romance. I really felt that Debbie could have expanded more on Kelly and Joe's relationship because it feels rushed.

Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella 4★

I've been procrastinating in reading this book. I've read all of Sophie Kinsella's other books (minus 4 to + of the Shopaholic series). I love Kinsella's stand alone books. Can You Keep a Secret? and I've Got Your Number are my favorites.

I tried reading Remember Me when it was published but didn't like Lexi. I had skipped to the ending when I first tried this. I liked the ending and Jon, but not enough to try reading it through. That attempt was back in 2008.

The storyline and Lexi reminded me of the show Samantha Who? Samantha and Lexi both have amnesia. Both come to find out they have this dream job and life. But that they're a Capital "B" and don't have that many friends and a poor love life. They thankfully try to change and be a better person. I liked the show. Remember Me? had about the same comedy touch and ok character development of a woman with amnesia. Lexi was more real in this case and she didn't get the memory flashbacks like Samantha did.

The beginning of the story, Lexi is flighty, her Mum and sister Amy are withdrawn and seemed uncaring. The mother doesn't change that much. She still has this weird obsession and need to love her dogs more than her two daughters.
I wished there was a way to just skip past the beginning. A lot of it was redundant and the characters weren't that likeable. I really didn't like Eric, Lexi's husband. I know he was supposed to resemble Lexi's fairy tale husband image, but I didn't see it. The guy did have a lot of money, but so did Lexi. So that's why I got annoyed with Lexi for staying with Eric for so long.

Jon Blythe ♥ After Jon comes (back) into Lexi's life the story picks up. He's an architect for the "Loft-Style Living" condos and works with Eric. But he'd rather make homes for those less fortunate. And it was really sweet with how romantic he is.

Btw - Eric's "Marriage-life Manuel"?! Funny and weird.

Ugh I was annoyed with Flavia and just so much details about everything. Everything! She’s 11 years old but apparently a genius. She’s also spoiled imo. I couldn’t stand all the details about her chemistry stuff and then just sooo much detail about the town, her history of the people in her family and the townspeople too! Too much detail that I was skim reading over that in the end. Other than this fault I did like Flavia and the other characters.

The other parts of the book was good. Good mystery for my first mystery book. Not sure the timeline despite so much details. I got that her father was in school in 1920 and that it’s sometime much after WWII.
