I love Sidney Sheldon's style of thinking, writing and the way the characters are twisted in its own way. I wouldnt say i hated this book, but it didnt meet my expectations though.

I really loved the way the story unfolded, but there were lose ends that was quite unanswered. The character developments, and the way this story was ended was a plus for me.

It was by no means a let down. I would definitely recommend it to my friends for a casual murder read.

My Rating : 3.5🌟

'A lot of boys she knew were so guarded, so worried about saying the wrong thing, or then there was the opposite type, who thought everything they said was world news.'

Oh how easily i can relate to the above line! This book follows our main character Maya Brown, who is the daughter of a secret agent, and everything she gets involved in ends up in a dangerous adventure. This book definitely gave me some nostalgic Nancy Drew feels, and i was really glad to pick this up.
I didn't know it was the second book in a series, but once i dived into it, i realized they were just companions and this book deals with the incidents few months after where the first book ends.

Trigger Alert : The story line deals with a Abusive relationships, drug addicts, human trafficking, illegal immigrants and drug lords. If you are easily triggered/offended by these, please don't pick this book up!

The character of Maya was developed well, and the relationship she has with her family and friends were all added bonus. It definitely teaches the young readers the importance of trusting your family, being smart and selective about friends and who you open up-to, and most importantly to stand up against wrong things (But be smart about the outcome in real life situations). It is not a simple story-line, and a lot of things let me wondering, 'If this happened in real life, you would definitely end up dead'. Though its fiction, this book was a mix of some unrealistic story flow along with some real life needs.

This book was by no means a let down. I enjoyed the time with it, and i would have enjoyed it even more if i had read it a few years back when i was in my Nancy Drew phase. If you are looking for an inspiring teen girl adventure books teaching you about the importance of friendship, similar to Nancy Drew, pick this up and enjoy!

"This is it. There is no way out of this. I won't die without a fight though. I pat my stomach and say 'I'm sorry' "

Being a sole plane crash survivor, this story is about June West who discovers that she has lost all her memories, stuck in a strange hospital and is not even sure whether what everyone claims her to be is true or not. Its a psychological thriller which deals with amnesia, random baby cries, trust and insecurities.

The 1st half of the book was a bit of a stretch and there were a lot of things explained really in detail (which was not necessary), and the character developments were not completely done. Once you dive into the second half of the book, lot of the scenes starts to make sense. The 2 alternating perspectives were slightly confusing at first, and you can make sense of the story separately but how the story of June West was unfolded was not easy to follow.

Also, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, so as to give explanations for all that happened before, and it was too abrupt. It could have been eased into a bit more. A lot of plots were left for reader's imagination, which is a good thing in a thriller, but can be a little unsettling for some. The ending on the contrary was explained, and all starts to make sense and plots fits like puzzle pieces at the end.

The power of mind and what it can do was explained good and i really enjoyed the part where Floyd has a conversation with Dr.Hope and ends up believing that miracles do exist. The point of view of him was the one i really enjoyed the most, and was what kept me reading this book. I really loved how they explained Brooklyn/June story and all the 6 characters ends up becoming something more than just acquaintances.

Overall, it was a good thriller, but the ending could have been eased into, and the first half of the book could have had lesser explanations. As a fan of thrillers, i was a little let down by how this book unfolded.

*DISCLAIMER* This book contains scenes involving sexual assault, harsh words and manipulation. Its a psychological thriller, so if you are easily offended, DO NOT read it.
