its a fun read, but if you want to know more get some of Stephen Fry his work. As soon as stuff pops up like saying Napoleon was a short man, I start doubting the quality if they fall for common misconceptions.
I read this book going by the info on the back. I assumed it was a detective. Then his childhood came into play but that lead him to becoming a detective so that was fine. But overall he gets side tracked so often, has a bit of a delusional view of what he will find, then there is a bit of a side line with love that distracts more, and the orphan that is another side thing.
The book had too many distractions for me. I prefer detectives that are focused and become the hero at the end of the day. Not at the end of forever in this case.

Thank you Stephen Fry.
I am so glad he started the retelling of all these Greek stories. I loved Mythos, I devoured Heroes and Troy was great as well. I read the Illiad and Odyssey once and I liked them, but Fry brings the story into the 21st century and I just love his personal flair and remarks.
I also read Achilles last year, but this book gives a (less romantic) broader perspective to the whole field of play. It is a good base to start from, I might re read some other stories that take place in Greek times because I now have a better idea of who did what and when. Because that is the thing with Greek stories, they are all intertwined. You can read about 1 hero, but he will encounter another person who has a godly father or mother, or grandfather. It gets complicated rather quickly. If you ever feel overwhelmed, start with Fry his work on Greek Mythology. You will have a laugh and a better understanding.

I want to forget this...
The idea of magic in a normal world seemed nice, but this. I am actively trying my very best to forget the names in this book, but I am sure I will wake up from a sweaty nightmare screaming Jose Arcadio!
I mean, wikipedia has a page explaining 7 generations and OTHERS from this book. Come on.
Just no. Get your weird ass pig tail family out of my long term memory.

So what can someone add to a great stand alone book?
I loved Ready Player One, the references, the writing style, the story. It was great. So when a number two was announced I had mixed feelings of excitement and fear. I've seen stories get milked before.
The book is awesome. It starts slow to get you into the zone. We see how Wade picked up his life after the contest and how he is managing. The news isn't all rosy and that makes it so realistic.
Soon we find a new goal for our main characters, but where everything starts light hearted and without much pressure, things quickly change.
The end feels a bit rushed but good. I would have loved to know what the new low five was doing at times, as you only get glimpses of them. But that might have broken the story rhytm.
All in all, would greatly recommend.

The books feels like it starts it closing point waaaaaay too early, but thankfully that was just part of a wonderful plot twist.
