Another hype book. The idea of the story is nice, but it feels like somebody made a reddit post saying 'If you knew today was the last day of your life, how would you spend it?' and then made that into a story. Someone had a cool idea and rolled with it.
At first I liked the whole idea of people finding people and having fun, but the romance factor of the book was unnecessary in my opinion.

I'm still not sure how much of this book is real and fiction, but doing a quick wikipedia check they might have just hit the right mark and did proper research for this book. I think this might be as close to an autobiography as you are going to get on Chanel.
It was a nice read and the story is wonderful, it's just a shame the way the story turned due to the second world war.

I loved the first book of this series. I know it YA and I just don't care. It's a fun read, nice environment and it's a fun change of pace to read books from the 'bad guys' point of view. I got the second novel as a present from my mother and I think that was why it was so hard for me to start it. But this year in honor of my mother, I did and I still love Marie Lu her writing style.
Second novels are filler novels, so you don't stop until you get to the end of the series. The closing was nice, made everything good again. Not what I expected the story to head to, but very nicely done.
I understand the main characters and can even relate, but still they just didn't pop of the page for me. The point of view shifts are nice, but the story isn't special enough for that to be really interesting.
I just love to have short stories to go through one at a time over a period of time. And this was a classic that needed to be added to my list. Howard Pyle does honor to the time period in his writing style and the stories are funny. Not what I expected because the Disney alteration has a bit more focus on the romantic side. Mary does get mentioned but that is just about it. Robin and meeting his merry men one at a time is really good fun.
Highly unlikely, love is weird but this might stretch the possibilities. It's like the author just ponders on what the weirdest option would be and makes that work. This is the reason why these books are interesting tho, I cannot predict what is going to happen nor why until it has happened. Entertaining but not wonderful.
This book should be called the personal guard of the King of Attolia. I know that the books are not single minded in their point of view story telling and that is nice. The guard is not very interesting though, we see everything from his side of the story and his opinions, but he does not have a solid backstory. What feeling do we want to have about this guard? The goal might be neutrality to enhance the shift in stance but if I am following a person I want to feel something.
Another different point of view. I like that and I don't and I realised that I was missing Ghen's point of view. I can't seem to get into his mind anymore and it was so frustrating this book. Sophos was an alright read, character growth happens often and fully in these novels. Unrealistically so a whimp can turn into a man with a herculean mind.
And the web being woven throughout the books has seen to come together, so I do wonder what the big finish will be.

I'm still no wiser than I was after the last book. I had hoped that now the 3 kingdoms were united that all hell would break out in this book, but this was more like the Tokyo drift in the Fast and Furious series. Connected but completely different.
Now I have to wait until next year to get an idea of where this is all heading, and that makes it 5 books of going somewhere, and for the last 3 books I have had this feeling a kid has when he goes on summer vacation by car with his parents. Are we there yet?
