A wonderfully twisted retelling of a 200-year-old classic. This book had me turning pages and peeked my curiosity from chapter one. The ending was absolutely perfect and caused me to gasp out loud. Such a great, eerie read, showcasing a beloved classic horror novel with a feminist twist.
A powerful story I'm really glad was included on my Modern African American Literature course's curriculum. Not the ending I was expected and a really eye-opening account of life in Harlem after World War II for a single, black mother. I am so glad to have read this and am happy to say this was not a rental I returned to my school bookstore. This will be staying in my at-home library.
I really enjoyed this mystery - it kept me on my toes and was a beautifully told story of two women trying to either discover who they are or rediscover what they'd lost. Definitely a wonderful pick.

A suspenseful, thrilling novel I was NOT expecting to love; but I did! I am an absolute crybaby when it comes to anything scary but this was one of the best novels I had read all year. Definitely a new favorite.

This fantastic retelling of Les Miserables was a powerful and fabulous journey. I am so grateful for this incredible novel. The main character was a powerhouse and I loved the diversity of the characters both sexually and racially. The descriptions were flawless and this was an absolute joy to read.
The incredible thing about this book, is it showed so much the movie titanic got wrong. I have this obsession with the titanic that even I can't explain, and as a 15 time veteran of watching the movie and watching Molly Brown go back for those people....to learn she never did, made me want to watch it again; this time with a more judgmental reason. As I watched I noticed things they left out, such as the rich men helping poor women into the boats and the suction? There wasn't nearly as much as they made it out to be. This book explained a lot to me including the way the ship sank, and how new York prepared for the survivors; things the movie never touched on. I wish the book had more memoirs from survivors and had personal stories but I understand this wasn't that kind of book that needed a lot of them. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn the true facts of The Sinking of the Titanic.
A cute read but definitely predictable the whole way through. Not my favorite read by Kasie West, but I look forward to reading others of hers in the future.
An absolutely fantastic read about cystic fibrosis and opening the eyes of young adults to this tragic disease. This novel made me an absolute wreck by the end and I fell in love with each of the characters so much. I can't wait for the film to be released next Spring!
