A powerful story I'm really glad was included on my Modern African American Literature course's curriculum. Not the ending I was expected and a really eye-opening account of life in Harlem after World War II for a single, black mother. I am so glad to have read this and am happy to say this was not a rental I returned to my school bookstore. This will be staying in my at-home library.
