This book took me months to finish. I am not sure why it took me this long. This book told a story about the MC trying to escape her dark past and also help others who have experienced the type of violence that she has faced. The MC finally gets a case to find a woman who went missing. While looking into the woman's life and those she is connected to, secretly began to unravel. Things are not what they seem and people are not what they seem. The MC put her life at risk several times while seeking the truth.
I felt the pace of this book was slow but overall all I like the back and forth of the MC and the missing woman's partner. I also enjoyed how this book touches on interracial relationships, domestic violence, and the process of starting over and what they may look like for survivors of DV.

Wow! Just wow. Just like the book “The Last Mrs. Parish” I found myself stunned. Every time I read Liv’s book I go in knowing that all of my assumptions about the plot and the outcome is wrong and yet I was wrong again.

Wild Seed characters frustrated me to no end... I still don't really know how to put my thoughts together for this book.

I just finished this book and it is my first completed read of 2021. I finished this book as apart of the Percy Jackson Readalong that is hosted by myself and Nicole (whopickedthisbook) on Youtube. While reading this book I kept thinking to myself. Okay "so what was the movie about?" I think the movie should be renamed "The Boy that Lived" because at this point there was almost no similarity between the book and the movie.
Percy Jackson and Grover's relationship were much more complex than I was lead to believe in the book. I also loved the addition of Kronos. There were monsters in the book that made the hero fight more interesting in my opinion. I am glad I watched the movie before reading the book. If I did it the other way around I would be so very upset with the choices that the movie made. Although I am a little frustrated by them. I must be honest, I thought maybe PJ would have been more annoying but I didn't mind his temper or his reasoning. I was floored by the difference in his relationship with Poisedon in comparison to the movie.

My best friend and I spoke about this book. It is interesting how two people can have two different outlooks on the meaning of a book depending on what’s going on in their lives. I like books that provokes the reader to create their own meanings or narratives from the text! Weird and great read!
Hey! I get it! This book is extremely long and if lengthy books are not your thing.... well... READ IT ANYWAY! This book reflects the time and the norms that are in some ways relevant and antiquated to our current way of life. Multiple times throughout the book the feminist within me wanted to scream; actually, a few times, I did. The themes of womanhood, love, society, faith, wealth, poverty, life, and death constantly vexed me.
Initially, I felt that the book was boring and had no end. However, the more I read, the more I understood the parallels between the characters and myself. Ignoring the moments in the book that were sexist, homophobic, and sexist, I kept on reading. The characters Anna Karenina and Lepin interested to me more than the others.
Anna had to make one tough decision after the other; every time she wanted to do something that gave her life meaning, a man, and society forbid her or took something away from her. This lead to her drug use, depression, and ultimately her death. Lepin was just going through the motions of life without actually living. Lepin constantly asked himself "who is God? what is life? who am I living for?" These are similar questions I am sure we all have asked ourselves once or twice. Only to find out that life is what you make of it, to serve yourself, and others.
This book put a lot of things into perspective on how I think about the decisions I make and people in my life. But, most importantly, how society tends to rain on your parade once you make a decision. This book is MUST read!
