This book took me months to finish. I am not sure why it took me this long. This book told a story about the MC trying to escape her dark past and also help others who have experienced the type of violence that she has faced. The MC finally gets a case to find a woman who went missing. While looking into the woman's life and those she is connected to, secretly began to unravel. Things are not what they seem and people are not what they seem. The MC put her life at risk several times while seeking the truth.

I felt the pace of this book was slow but overall all I like the back and forth of the MC and the missing woman's partner. I also enjoyed how this book touches on interracial relationships, domestic violence, and the process of starting over and what they may look like for survivors of DV.
