sometimes i thought hazel was too much like a caricature, and i didn’t love the twist at the end, but it was pretty cute and predictable and lighthearted and i love a good happy ending

i actually liked this book more than i thought i would. it was well written and interesting and provided lots of insight into their family’s life. i didnt like the stereotypical way that they talked about fathers. i know this book is over a decade old, and they are both very openminded people, i like to think that if it were written today, they would have been more sympathetic to people with different family structures 

This is definitely one of the most well-written and well-researched nonfiction books I have ever read. My only problem with it is that Kevin Smokler sometimes spends too long talking about things that don’t interest me, then glosses over things that do interest me, but that’s just personal preference 

This book wasn’t poignantly written, and the dialogue was cringey, but it was exactly what i look for when i read a kasie west book. easy. 

SUCH a good book!!! definitely a potential new all-time fav. i just loved it. so cute. i would recommend it to pretty much anyone.

tim federle: 4/5. i’ve never read anything by this author. the story was very well written, but i did not like kieth. matty deserved so much better☹️

veronica roth: 5/5. super cute and sweet. very creative idea. i loved it. i could read a whole series of books based on this concept

jon skovron: 1.5/5. i HATED the writing. the dialogue was some of the most cringey ive ever read. i have never read this author before and frankly, i dont want to read any more of his work. the only thing i liked was the story concept. if a different writer had written it, this story could be 5/5. 

brandy colbert: 2.5/5. very average. mediocre writing. the two main characters were somewhat endearing but the pacing of them getting together was weird. 

cassandra clare: 4.25/5. it was actually a really cute cassandra clare story. i thoroughly enjoyed it; it just wasn’t anything super special.

lev grossman: 4/5. ive never read lev grossman, and ive heard bad things, but this was really cute and the premise was very creative
