A cute palette cleanser.

I have to admit that the beginning of this book and Lord of Eternal Night didn’t pull me in. I only mention Lord of Eternal Night because I’m starting to believe it’s an author thing and not the book. I just feel like the beginning needed more added to it to make me care for the characters. The middle and end were good but the beginning is so rushed that it doesn’t matter.

I quite enjoyed this which if I’m being honest is a shock. I went into this thinking this was going to be my last Ben Alderson book. The problems I had with the previous two books didn’t appear here and I’m glad. I kept hoping the next book would be better and this one was. I felt like I actually got to know these characters and even grew to care for them which is something that I didn’t with the previous books. I will admit that somethings that were said in the beginning did throw me off and I’m still confused by them even after finishing the book.

I avoided this book for so long because I didn’t think I would like it but here I am having enjoyed it and wanting to complete the trilogy. I have watched the movie as well and I have to admit that I like the changes they made and think the rearrange of scenes make more sense than the order they are in the book.

I don’t think a mix of contemporary and horror is my thing. This wasn’t bad and I liked the ending enough to want to read the sequel but it was just okay.

This wasn’t bad and maybe younger me would have loved this but I had a hard time caring. If I didn’t own this there’s a good chance I would have dnf’ed.

This is a book that I think I’ll easily forget. It was okay but nothing stood out or grabbed my attention.

Repetitive but a good palette cleanser.
