I cried three times while reading this.

Even though I knew what Draco was doing Harry really annoyed me in this. The last 20% I enjoyed more though.

I really enjoy the world building and I loved getting some queer moments in here. But, I feel so disconnected from the characters that I can’t rate this any higher. And the ending… I’m kind of tired of authors taking things back.

I was hoping to like this more than I did. I kept feeling like I was being kept an arm’s distance away from the characters. I will continue with this series though as I did enjoy everything else greatly and well the ending didn’t really give me a choice.

This has sent me back down the road of researching Ancient Egypt because it reminded me of my love for it. 

This might just not be the right time as I only made it halfway through the third chapter before I started to question if I should dnf this and by morning I had no interest in continuing. I don’t have anything negative to say about what I did read just nothing was grabbing my attention.

There’s definitely some misogyny in here that made me roll my eyes but I did go into this knowing about it and if I’m being totally honest I was expecting there to be more than there was. Excluding the misogyny I quite liked this book although certain things did fall flat for me and I’m unsure if I’ll continue this series at the moment.

I just can’t really see myself re-reading this in the future or thinking about it much.

This was a slog to get through and I honestly thought I was going to end up DNF’ing this @34% in and unhauling it. But, after I got back into this it wasn’t as bad. This was an interesting premise and I do want to read more of Alex North’s works but part of me feels like it’ll take me the same amount of time to get through another one of his books.

I’m not sure I would really recommend this book but parts did feel like a Criminal Minds episode.

I’m intrigued but I’m not in love.

This was not it. I wasn’t engaged and I would honestly prefer this as just a list. I don’t think everything else in this adds anything. I also think the author highlights should have been extras and not counted as part of the 101 recommendations.

I was so bored, I didn’t want to pick this back up because of it, and had to force myself to finish this.
