I adore stories that take you on twists and turns, and this is one that delivers constantly.

Good vs Evil. A tale as old as time, but with a fresh take and a wonderful deeper look at humanity through the guise of fairy tale's.

A wonderful start to this series, I can't wait to dive in to the next book!

I received an eARC through NetGalley. So I'm not 100% sure how much the ARC differs from the final product as Goodreads suggests the book is longer than the copy I received.

Overall I really enjoyed the story idea. Anything to do with magic and self-discovery is always right up my alley. However I also require a lot of depth to my characters, which I feel was a little lacking. Especially as this story is told from multiple view points.

At times there was a lot of detail about the surrounding areas, and then nothing at all about the people. Some of the scenes appeared a little skimmed over, and I feel that they could have been perfect opportunities for more character interactions and relationship building.

The world itself sounds vast and there are so many different culture's and races that I felt needed to be experienced a little bit more. I really wanted to connect deeply with the world and the characters, as a lot of them had the makings of really interesting, in depth people. I just felt that there was something missing.

And one slightly picky view (again I'm not sure if this is different in the finished book) is that all of the characters have great, well thought out names, except for a character named 'Browneyes' - I feel for such a mysterious, badass, villain - she deserved a better name than just Browneyes. All the other characters have great names, and I was just disappointed. She seems like she should be an important character, although not much was revealed about her past, and how she connects to everything.

Great story premise - I just wanted a bit more from the characters so I could really root for them.

An emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.

The lines between Good and Evil blur, hearts are won, lives are lost. Dramatic, captivating, a real page turner.

A fantastic sequel. Again dealing with important issues under the guise of fairy tales.

A lot darker than the first book, with twists and turns. I can't wait to start the third.

This is a strong 4.5 for me, I really wish they'd include half stars!

Felicity was my favourite character in The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, so I was very excited when it was announced that the sequel would follow her.

I adore that the story doesn't centre on a love story. I adore that Felicity's actions aren't driven by her loins! She is an independent, intelligent young woman. Well ahead of her time.

Sarcastic, witty and wonderful. I really enjoyed it. I wanted more from Sim's character, as to why its not a full 5 stars. I really feel that she could have had more to her. I really felt that her character was lacking and I wanted more from her. But other than that, I loved the story.

This is more a 3.5 than a full 4.

I struggled to get into this, but I feel that's because I've already read a book this month about book jumping that really stole my heart. So I couldn't help but draw comparisons.

Owen's character frustrated me, but I enjoyed all the other characters. And by the end I was thoroughly enjoying the story.

Unsure if I will pick up the sequel. But it is an enjoyable story.

I am a fan of super hero stories, so this was always going to be up my alley.

I enjoy the fact that this story isn't all about superheroes and that the main character doesn't have a 'wow' ability but still is nonetheless impressive.

The struggle both physically and mentally that both characters go through, makes for some compelling reading. I really enjoyed this and look forward to picking up the sequel.

Sorrow, loyalty, trials, tests, heartbreak, love. It has it all, and more. I can't wait to read the next one!

Fantastic sequel to Spellslinger! Couldn't put it down, more of the same magic and madness! Adored it, onto book three I go!

A fantastic thrill ride from start to finish. Dark, mysterious, fast paced but with beautiful friendships and astonishing adventure.

Couldn't put this book down, read it in under three hours, I adore Cass. I relate to being that oddball, the outcast. I cannot wait for the sequel.
