Oh, this was great! I loved how Breakfast Club all these characters were and how devious this ended up being. Brilliant! I'll definitely be checking out more of this author's work soon.

Oh what a twisted freaking ride! This was disturbing and captivating and the characters are completely unlikable, unreliable and - well they're train wrecks. And I loved them! Cannot wait to read more by this duo!

This was an absolutely stunning story as a whole, but once I started looking at individual components, I liked it a bit less.

I had the most issue with the pacing and wordiness of it all. This book genuinely felt 100 pages too long. If it had been edited down, it would have been more enjoyable.

I also wasn't a fan of all the POVs, especially since several of them felt unnecessary.

That said, this story was beautifully well written and took a well known fairytale and created something completely new out of it. And I find that to be a great accomplishment! I'll definitely continue picking up books by this author in the future.

Bah, why did this have to start sooooo slow?! The build up to the ending was just too long, and it made the ending feel a bit rushed, which is a shame, because I LOVED this ending! Didn't see it coming at all.

Oh boy did this book take me for a ride! I loved how unreliable the MC was and how suspicious I was of EVERYONE, EVERYTHING, just all of it! I was on edge at times but unfortunately completely bored other times. This would have been easily a 5 star book fore, if it wasn't for the pacing.

This is so freaking cute. Howie is just the freaking cutest, and I love how much growth both he and Sooch are going through. It's fantastic!

I love me some viking stories and found about 90% of this completely enjoyable. I loved the writing and what our main characters went through, but I felt pretty meh on the romance. It felt very rushed and unnecessary.

Finally getting around to writing a review after my third read of this! And it's still not going to be a great review.

I absolutely love this trilogy! I love the characters and the setting and the trials that the characters go through. I love Lila, Kell and Rhy individually and together with their banters. And of course, I love Holland and his real struggling vibes.

And honestly, I dig the big (and bigger) bads here. The twins are a creep factor of like 1000, and I just love when my big bads are that disturbing.

VE Schwab does a great job at building not just a world, but a universe here. One that I can see her expanding (obviously, lol) in the future.

I really loved this first volume so much. It was heartwarming and beautiful, and I thought that the characters developed so naturally here. Their interactions with one another were so freaking good!
Looking forward to picking up the next volume as soon as I can!

This was such an incredibly hard book to read, but it portrayed such an important subject matter, that I just had to keep going. I can't say that I enjoyed this book, because I don't think that's the point of it. But, the writing was absolutely beautiful. The characters were flawed and broken, and also, so very strong. I definitely think if you can read this book to do it! That it should be shared with loved ones and read in schools, and it's message should be out there for EVERYONE to see.
