found out that there would be an animal death that seemingly had no point on top of the MC missing all the red flags and her pretentious personality, I'm passing on this one.

It was a slow start with at least one irredeemable character.  I like monsters but not when they're abusive.

Possibly not in the mood for this at the moment. Will try again later.

Soft DNFing. Fantastic writing but the multi-page paragraphs are too much for my brain right now.

I don't think I'm in the right mindset for this.  It starts out with a ton of world building and information and my mind is having a hard time making sense of it all.

Need to be in the right mood for a historical fiction. This is absolutely a ME thing and not the book's fault at all.

Books written in the 1800s are a little too hard for me to read, and I need to remember that.

Setting this one aside for now.  It's a slow starting book, and I just need something with a little more action to to keep me entertained at the moment.
