Just as good as I remembered it. So glad I decided to reread these.
6/16 - 6/17 2014
Holy flashbacks Batman! In Clockworks, we get to see the beginnings of Keyhouse Manor, the keys, the demons, all of it. We get to see the past recreated and it was such an experience to read and see.
Writing wise, Joe Hill is still bringing this world to life with adding to the plot, allowing the characters to continue to develop, and giving the Locke kids a fighting freaking chance. Being able to see the past was such an essential part to this story, and I'm glad it happened. Visually, well, Gabriel Rodriguez has done another awesome job at bringing this world to life.
I'm afraid if I add too much to this review, I'll end up spoiling past volumes, so I won't. Just read them and know, when you get to Clockworks a lot will be revealed. The story is nearing its end and the good v. evil fight is on the horizon.
And, at this point, I'm praying for a happy ending. Haven't the Lockes been through enough yet Joe?

Another book where I wish Goodreads allowed for 1/2 stars. I liked this book a lot, and sometimes I think 3 star ratings are viewed negatively here. But, this is a good book ya'll!
It wasn't as scary as the front cover blurbs would have you believe, but it definitely had some horrific elements, and I really liked following Jack's tale.
He was a likeable(ish), naive(ish), and friendly(ish) character. And he was also younger (12) than most characters I read and made some seriously foolish decisions that caused him a lot of heartache and fear. Lessons learned for sure in this bind up.
Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything but the Goodreads synopsis gives the jist of the story. I recommend reading that if you're interested. Just know, that if you choose to read this story, you're in for a heck of a ride with young Jack as he makes some pretty twelve year oldish mistakes.
Definitely going to be checking out more from Scott Snyder and Scott Tuft in the future, and I absolutely loved the creepiness of the artwork (thanks to Attila Futaki - will definitely find more work by them too).

Hell yes to Penny! Getting her back story was magnificent! I love this series because it's filled with strong female leads. The ensemble is spectacular, but Penny may be one of my favorites. Getting a glimpse at how she came to be on Bitch Planet was so enlightening.
And that last bit - wowzers!

And we're back to the main story and getting to some meaty plot points too! The story is starting to really develop in these panels, and I can start to see where the creators are going.
In this issue, you also start to see some friendships and relationships forming and it's just powerful to witness. And then there's Kam doing her badass things, being the fucking protector that she is.
Just another exceptional issue.

Well the issue attempted to warn me, but I went in hoping beyond hopes that it was just a click baity title.
Got to more of the plot during this issue and saw more of the grimness that is Bitch Planet. This issue pretty much solidified where I believe the story will end up going and everything in each panel felt so very necessary, but that doesn't mean it didn't break my heart.

Ooo more character backstory! Love it!! And I think this is establishing a very crucial side character to the plot. Again, it's all leading me to believe that I know where this story is going, I just didn't know how it was going to get there. With this introduction, this is how.
I see it. I get it. And I'm digging it.

You know it's a good issue when you feel the need to rub your hands together in all too devious manner. I loved the karma that we see in this issue (which I didn't see coming - but should have).
The story is really getting into its groove at this point, and I'm loving these characters. They all have unique voices and stories and makes it all feel so genuine.

Spectacular issue! The plots progressing pretty much how I figured, the characters are doing some interesting things to get there and the ending gave me some chills. This was such a necessary issue to begin setting up the next arc, and I just can't wait to see where this will go next!
YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an incredible ending to one fantastic fucking arc. Cannot wait for issue #11.
