Wow! This story is fantastic (and very creepy at times) and the art just works so perfectly with every word on page.  I especially loved the full chaotic pages where it felt like the art and words exploded across the book.  I had literal chills while reading this, and so of course, I'm going to recommend everyone checking it out!

What an absolutely delightful story! Loved the characters, world building, and the setting.  Zen Cho really created something magical here and all in under 200 pages.  Highly recommend!

As I expected, this was a fantastic novella.  Dr. Okorafor is an incredible storyteller whose characters, setting, and plot are always top notch!  There's so much to unpack here on every page.  It was heartbreaking and cathartic to follow Fatima's journey from start to finish.  Highly recommend!

This was a beautifully bizarre story for the first bit and the last bit, but that middle-ish bit - I just don't know how I felt about that.  I adored Carrot and Simon and the Wonder Museum and Uncle Earl and Beau and the portal world though, so even if there were parts that I didn't quite love, overall this was an absolutely outstanding novel.

What an incredibly powerful, raw, gut-wrenching memoir.  So much of this resonated with me, and my own struggles with food and my body due to trauma.  It was at times, hard to read, but so very necessary.  Gay's words are going to stick with me for years to come.

Easily another 5 star book in this series! Holy wow this was excellent!  Rebecca Roanhorse is a master storyteller, and her ability to connect this book with the first was top notch.

There were elements here that I know are going to play such an important role in books to come, and I'm so excited to see where this goes!

Here we are, finally at the end.  I really enjoyed this volume!  It wrapped up relatively well, and I really appreciate the growth Gert had here.

Plus, with all the mayhem, this may be my favorite of the series!

I definitely liked the first two volumes a bit more.  This one was disturbing and a bit too creepy for me with all the weird proposals.  I don't mind all the death and destruction (actually thoroughly enjoy it in this series), but that part was a bit too much for me.

That ending though! What a way to get me to dive directly into volume 4!

Gertrude is back and more disturbing than ever in this second volume.  We see her make all of the terrible decisions. Seriously, not one right choice is made here.  And of course, because of that, there's mayhem and destruction on every page.

I really wanted to love this sapphic historical fantasy about women (witches) fighting against disgusting working conditions and even more disgusting men. Unfortunately, I have quite a few issues with this.

There's white women using sage in their practice, a magic system that is poorly designed and thought out, and the fact that white is capitalized even once knocks this down a few stars for me.

I'm sure this is historically accurate but I think that accuracy is what breaks what could have been a truly fascinating story.
