I've embraced the fact that I do not understand anything that's happening.  Maybe it'll make sense in the final volume, buy right now, not much is clicking for me.  It's entertaining though!  I'm enjoying the ride, just wish I knew what's happening.

This was so fun with a great premise, interesting characters, and fantastic art! I loved all of the science and college elements, and then, when we get to the main meat of the story, it was such a wild ride!  I could see this being a really good book to pick up for any teen looking to get into a STEM field or just has a passion for sciences!

It started a bit slow, but I'm glad I stuck this out! I love Alien and this is definitely a good edition to the universe. Olivia is ballsy and the aliens are of course frightening.  Loved the setting on the planet and that could've been a fascinating story on its own.  But bringing it into this universe with this monster - loved it.

This was a wonderfully weird book. With a haunted woods (which instantly made me love it a bit more), a witch and a monster - I don't need much more in my horror.

I could've done without the racial slurs and slut shaming. I get that this was set in the 80s, but it was a bit much at times.

This is an incredibly fast-paced first volume that drops the reader directly into battle and an incredibly vibrant world filled with mythology and deities and doesn’t let up for even a moment. The art is truly fantastic and brings the story to life.  And the story itself is so freaking interesting!  Cannot wait to pick up volume 2!

The first half of this book was a bit hard to get into.  It's filled with info-dumping and too many characters.  I'm sure it's all going to be great to know in later books, but with this one it was a bit of a struggle to read about.  I liked the characters.  They're definitely the star of the show, but I didn't care for the setting or world.  Nothing that happened mattered to me, which is a shame.

Not sure if I'll continue with this series, but if I do, it won't be for a while.

Delightful is the wrong word, but it's what I'm going to use.  This was a delightfully creepy, disturbing prequel novella to Drowning in the Deep, and I'm so freaking happy I finally read it!  I loved learning what happened to the Atargatis first hand, even though, the readers knew the outcome from the book.  It's (again I'm going to use the wrong word) nice to have seen what these folks all went through.  Horrifying, but it gave me a glimpse at what all happened.  And since it's been years since I read Drowning in the Deep, it was "fun" to dive back into this world and story.

This had pretty much every single corny slasher/horror movie trope, and I loved it!  Written like a movie script, with characters I couldn't help but want dead, this was just a fun ride.  It's definitely horrific and gory at times, but the satirical elements kept it from ever being too creepy for me.

This won't be for everyone, but those that love horror and don't mind a bit of cheesiness to it will get a kick out of The Last Final Girl!

These essays and reflections were so thought provoking, and I learned a lot about the author and myself while reading them.  This was never dry or dull and the topics are incredibly important to read on.

As always, the Sun's illustrations are stunning!

Did I guess all the major twists? Yes, yes I did.  And normally that would've made me like a thriller less, but this really did read like a horror movie.  I knew what was going to happen, but I stayed tense waiting for it, holding my breath, knowing that the monster was right behind the character, and screaming that they should turn around.

The writing, characters, and fear elements were top notch! Cannot wait to read more from this author!
