Ah, the grumpy/sunshine trope. It's such a fun one to dive into but there was so much lying and miscommunication here.  It's been a bit since I've read the rest of the series, but I think this was my second favorite of them.

I liked seeing the Elves, learning more about them and Jebez, and I liked seeing Rae and Merikh's relationship evolve (even if I found it a smidge awkward at times).

I'm very interested in what one bit means, especially in the next books.  So of course, I'll be continuing this series!

Outside of Azazel's, this is the story I've been waiting for (even though I haven't had to wait at all since I just started this series like 3 days ago)!  I absolutely adore Ramanu every time they're on page.  They're easily my favorite character of the whole series (so far), and I devoured this novella!

Ramanu and Lenora had such a fun, flirty, and let's be honest, fast and furious development of their interactions.  Which, I normally don't love but I didn't mind it for even a moment here.

I'd read anything with these two again in a heartbeat! Loved every spicy second of this!

I liked this one a tad more than the second book but it feels like this couple is missing the magic that Briar and Sol had for me.

I don't love the coercive nature of how this started, and it was hard to look past.

The other thing I didn't love and it's again probably due to how much story is possible in 180 pages, but we're told a lot about how Grace's family were these renowned monster hunters...but it didn't feel like we got to really see that Grace had the skills too.

I wanted to love Catalina and Thane as much as Briar and Sol, but I feel like they would have needed more book and more healing before that could happen.

This went too fast for my taste, and their traumas were both too deep.  It didn't feel like a healthy relationship for long enough (even with the time jumps).

The softness and gentle nature of the "monsters" was absolutely everything!  I cannot wait to dive more into this universe and see more of the characters!

Briar and Sol's relationship was built on communication, which I adored.  I feel like we don't get to see honesty between the love interests often (which usually leads to a third act miscommunication/breakup). Briar's past trauma is at the forefront of how Dol interacts with her at every turn.

It was a beautiful thing to see their trust grow into a deeper connection and turn falling in love.

Well I wanted to read a monster romance surrounding merfolk, and this is definitely that thing. Unfortunately, I felt like this was missing so much information, connection between the characters, and that ending - nope, not for me.

I will not be continuing with this series, unfortunately.

In Nightfall was conceptually super interesting, and since I grew up with the Lost Boys and Buffy, I was very excited for it!  It was fine, though I think I liked the premise far more than the implementation.

It's light and the shenanigans are high, so if you don't mind the gaps and over the top parts, give it a shot!

What an absolutely chilling, horrifying collection of poems and stories.  This had some truly brutal tales, and I hate how much any queer/femme person could relate to so much of this.  From wanting to see ourselves differently to the trauma that is a part of us and our bodies - it all hit so hard.

I listened to the audio version of this galley, but I'll definitely be picking up a physical copy to add to my collection!

Possibly not in the mood for this at the moment. Will try again later.
