There were parts of this book that had me asking “why would anyone wanna live in Alaska?!” Then there were parts of the book that enticed me to ask my husband if we could take a trip to Alaska. Kristin Hannah painted such beautiful pictures with her words, I love her writing style.
This was an interesting read with strong female characters, domestic abuse, and the highs and lows of humanity.
slow-paced

This book just didn’t do it for me. It felt a little scattered in the beginning and finally piqued my interest around chapter 15/16. There def we’re good parts, but I don’t feel like it lived up to the hype.

What a beautiful idea/story. I cried, so so much. My dad passed away in October of 2021. This story of time travel and love and loss hit so very close to home for me. Maybe it’s because my dad has been gone for only a year and a half, but I found myself thinking of all the conversations I could’ve had with him if only I’d known he was going to die at a mere 63 years of age.

This book clearly got me in my feels. It could’ve been shorter, there were sections that felt very “13 going on 30” and I wasn’t sure where the book was going. But it settled out and was a truly beautiful read.

1. The husband is a flat out idiot! I literally had this thought multiple times throughout the book while rolling my eyes.
2. I didn’t figure out the ending, tho I was constantly going back and forth between several scenarios as to “who done it”.
3. This was a quick read, that kept me on the edge of my seat while trying to solve everything.  Call me a prude, but the language was a little too foul for me.

This was a sweet novel with themes of feminism/girl power, family trauma, and love. This book was not quite as gripping as Center’s other novels, and there were moments when I lost interest, but overall, it was a good story.

What a gripping novel! I found myself going back and forth with the main character and her true loves. Heart wrenching, but so good!

This book was extremely thought provoking. I thought it was beautiful. It may not be for all, but it was definitely for me. I especially savored the writings regarding the death of loved ones. It hit close to home and I had happy tears toward the end of the book.

**read via audiobook at 1.5 speed. Narrated by Therese Plummer, who does a fantastic Scottish accent when needed throughout the book. I swear I kept forgetting there was only one reader**

This was an inspiring read! It started off with action which is something I appreciate, I was hooked from the start. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I will just say, I don’t really know what I was expecting from this book, but I got more than I expected and had a few teary moments.

Yo, I did not see ANY of that coming! This was a fast-paced, twisted story and I cannot wait to see what Freida’s next book has in store for her readers.

Not gonna lie, I listened to this book on my way to work over the span of a couple days to pump me up. It has a lot of cliches, but also made some valid points with regards to mindfulness and a positive thought process.  Some of it was a little extra. If you need to be reminded that you ARE a badass, then check this one out. If you already know how great you are, well then, carry on.
