I wasn't looking forward to this since Ryber was not a character I cared about. Even if this was short. Got it from the library anyway. It was a quick read. I forgot someone had mentioned it was mixed media. Do that helped. Particularly in the first half. 

However it still took me this long to read because my mind was elsewhere. That being said, I liked this more than I expected to. Way more. Ryber's story at the convent was actually interesting. The media pages broke up the diary entries, which is how most of this is written. And this novella expanded the witchlands world by adding some history and a little more mystery. Not that we needed more of the latter. 

And I like that we got more unreliable narration in a different way than the other books. Having finished, I can say I am once again intrigued to go on. What's really compelling me through each book is the question of What is going on? The implication that Safi and Iseult are may not be the biggest important thing in this world added to that. On to Bloodwitch

While I did not like this as much as the first one it's still top tier. I love the way the relationship developed and issues were handled. Could have done without the rehash of everything in the first book in the first 60 or so pages. I do wish we had gotten Jonah's pov though. Things are not perfect wrapped up in a bow. It's we'll continue to work together on our relationship and ourselves with hope for the future. I love that.

This was so satisfying. I see what she meant by this is just the beginning for them. 

How could I not love this. I did not know going in how much this would mean to me. It was cute, funny, shocking and heartbreaking. This just became one of my fave books of the year. The amount of tears I cried from when she died until the ending.

A cautious 3.5 stars. I was confused but then I was confused when I requested this book from the library. 😆 Anyway, I'm not sure where this is going but it was interesting. Not as compelling as some of the other slice of life manga I've been reading. But well enough. I think the confusion comes from Satoko and her boss/ex. What is going on there? But I don't think she knows either so it's okay to be confused as the reader. 

I think it's easier for her to look back at her childhood and others childhood experiences and see where things are not quite right with Mashuu. Easier than looking at her own life and relationships now without the experience of having dealt with these situations already. She needs a friend and so does Mashuu. A very interesting premise that's working out okay for me so far.
