Well that was a lot shorter than I was expecting.
Holy shit. I wasn't expecting this to be this good. 4.5 stars.
This should have been two books. It was really too long. The pacing was all over the place. While I appreciated the slow burn of the romance, there were several plots drawn out in this which did not need to be. I don't know if just used to urban fantasies building up over several books or not but this could have been written better for timing, pacing and plot set up. There are some big conveniences in here. Plus, it's weird how the author picks and chooses how much detail to give. I don't dislike this but just feel it could have been better.
Also, given the title of the book and the series title I can guess that future books will follow different characters. I do like both of the main characters but the way they were viewed by others had very flimsy set up. I also love the relationship between Bryce and various secondary characters. Its the relationships that really shine in this. But I have to admit that I'm rooting for the humans.

It was a slow starter for me. Especially since I had a lot going on in June and July. But once we got past most of the character set up it really started moving. Fast. There are some interesting twists and the bad guy is not who (or should I say what) you think it is, which was nice. Can't wait for the next one.
Well I was not expecting that ending. I likes this more than the first book which was fun. This just had more depth overall.
Oh this was lovely. Just what I needed. Nathan is wonderful; the friend we all want. And Ben is so relatable.
I liked this though it didn't always hold my attention. I may be too old for the series now. My brain kept picking at the conveniences and obvious plot points used to more complex stories. I also felt uncomfortable with how physical disabilities and mental disorders were used. I know this was written 15 years ago but I don't feel like that was okay then either but I don't know.
This wasn't bad. I really do like how true to the Greek myths this was. Unlike many modern adaptations, there's no moralizing and the "bad guy" wasn't the usual choice. Definitely got better in the last third of the book, besides one major plot convenience that I could see no point for. I may continue this but in no rush. Overall an enjoyable read.
