The Lightning Thief
by Rick Riordan
I liked this though it didn't always hold my attention. I may be too old for the series now. My brain kept picking at the conveniences and obvious plot points used to more complex stories. I also felt uncomfortable with how physical disabilities and mental disorders were used. I know this was written 15 years ago but I don't feel like that was okay then either but I don't know.
This wasn't bad. I really do like how true to the Greek myths this was. Unlike many modern adaptations, there's no moralizing and the "bad guy" wasn't the usual choice. Definitely got better in the last third of the book, besides one major plot convenience that I could see no point for. I may continue this but in no rush. Overall an enjoyable read.
