3.5 stars. Well this was a surprise. I read this for the first discord book club read of the bujo witches. This was an interesting and fast read. I liked how integrated the events and characters of the Salem Witch Trails were in this fictional story. I didn't love the love triangle as I felt the story could do without one relationship being romantic. There was no need for it and we all knew it wasn't going to pan out anyway.

This was very atmospheric. I felt like I could see, smell and taste everything. I liked that. Kind feeling like Camellia should have figured out a lot more earlier on. However, she's young and clearly dealing with a lot. But overall this was a good read. An interesting world. When all is said and done Sophia will not make a good Queen. Interested to see what will happen next.

Still love it. I'm older than Mercy now so some of her actions and responses (particularly regarding the situation with Samuel) come off as juvenile now. She feels less kick ass, independent woman who knows what she wants. And more young adult just trying to make it through the day on her own terms and merit. Still cool though. I also realized this is very much the girl who is attractive to many guys but doesn't know it trope, lol.

Definitely 5 stars. Things got real in this book. The kids are older and the issues have more depth. We get more adults involved and deeper motivations. And some awesome quidditch games. Plus the danger in this one is more real and less fantastical. The mystery of Sirius Black was very well done. The ending definitely is a rollover coaster of emotions. This is my 2nd time reading this and I did the audio book this time. No regrets on that.

Did I just finish this in a couple of hours? Yes. Did I love it as much as before? More so. I was guestimating my original star rating. 3.5 stars maybe even 4. I love this world and all the speculations for how, if supernatural beings are real, how would they fit into our modern day society. I also, really like Kitty. She's kinda laid back and doesn't want much. She's not my fave supernatural protagonist but I enjoy her. The radio show is also something I really liked. I also enjoy the secondary characters. I'm going to bump up my rating. I was always reading this haphazardly when I couldn't get my faves.

3.5 stars. I liked this but I didn't love it. Its been awhile since I've read a modern romance. Even longer since I've read one with poc. Its like a whole new world, lol. Anyway, I thought this was realistic and relatable for the most part. Their reasons for disliking each other felt shallow. Like the author didn't build a convincing enough argument for me. I did not know this was part of a series so it may be that the animosity was built over the past 2 books and I missed it because of that. I may raise my rating after I read the others. The ending did it for me. I was really enjoying their relationship being built but then
Alexa saying she knew the whole time (which I had been hoping for) made it that much better.
Because as I said their reasons for hating each other were flimsy to me especially being Alexa's close friends for years. Things did not add up. Overall, it was cute and sexy.
