Solidly best book from the Cane Brothers series. I laughed more in this book than the other two combined. I’m solidly in the enemies to lovers trope camp but this spicy friends to lovers hit everything just right. I need to figure out where to find myself a Breaker Cane.

I’ll start by saying second chance romances aren’t my jam. But I don’t think my qualms about this book have anything to do with that. It was too emotional. Too repetitive. A character would literally say something and on the SAME PAGE, the opposite character thought about it. I don’t think there was solid wrap ending. Unless the author is trying to lead into another book with Nichole, I thought that was unnecessary. I also felt like the FMC was really selfish. Putting a lot of the blame on the MMC, even after realizing her errors in their marriage it was all about how he hurt her. Not anything about how she didn’t support. Definite miss for me. 100+ pages too long. Won’t stop reading this author, especially as I’m excited for the next Cane Brother book.

The book started out solid for me. Then around 40% through, it started to fall short. I loved the strong FMC and the growth to working together. The author started introducing new POVs that didn’t really further the plot. Maybe setting up for future books, but it threw me out of the reading. A ton of unbelievable plot points. Overused pregnancy trope. 😩 Just overall no. Glad to finish the book, but won’t continue with the series.

This was a super cute book! Lovely little Christmas contemporary read. I enjoyed the story, liked the chemistry between the MCs. My only complaint about the book, was the very detailed cooking/kitchen jargon. I felt like we spent a whole page describing how things were chopped, cleaned, and detailed. It took me out of the story and it became repetitive, I ended up skimming past those sections and unfortunately, since it is centered around a restaurant and chefs, it was quite often.

I will be up front and say, friends to lovers trope is not my jam. I will always and forever stan enemies to lovers. However, this book was fabulous. If all friends to lovers had the chemistry these two MCs had, I might be a convert. Borison wrote this in a way that you could feel the love between these two, you could picture yourself in Stella's living-room with her feet under Luka's legs. It was beautifully done, especially since the "Small town Christmas tree farm" story is overrun with Hallmark castoffs. This book is above and beyond Hallmark movie status! I DO wish it was a little more explicit, the bonus chapter was *chefs kiss*! But I also realize that's not everyone's cup of tea.

I don’t know where I’ve been but I’ve clearly been sleeping on these holiday novellas. This was a fun, dirty little read. Almost too dirty for me (I didn’t know I had a little Pearl Clutcher in me 😅) and a little second hand embarrassment. The banter was so much fun, I absolutely loved it. Solid holiday novella. I’m excited to dive into the author’s other works now!
