I really liked this book.  I enjoy the author's writing immensely.  There were a few errors that were glaringly obvious, ie. Cooper's skates having a toe pick when we was teaching the littles how to skate.  Hockey skates don't have toe picks. Maybe he was using skates from the rink but I don't think that was the case.  The hockey references were all the same and how he "misread" the puck.  Just didn't feel authentic. I didn't notice it in the last book, but I don't know football like I know hockey so maybe mis-references flew over my head :)
I also struggled with this one a tad bit because it REALLY had the vibe of Elle Kennedy's The Risk.  Maybe it was the coach's daughter thing and something bad happening with the ex.  But I was constantly brought back to that book.
Anywho, I loved all the green flags for Cooper in this book.  I liked that coach dad didn't go off and easily accepted Cooper as someone his daughter loved.  I'm glad the ending didn't have a stereo-typical proposal and marriage scene.  I do wish we'd gotten to find out where Cooper got drafted and where they go from there.  My guess is I'll have to read the next book, seeing as Cooper and Seb are only juniors.

Let me just start by saying that Ms. Helena Hunting has and always will be, my Queen of Hockey Romance.  I've read and love them all.

If You Hate Me was definitely giving off the found family vibes of the Pucked series and I am here for it. I adored the FMC, Beatrix, and the MMC, Tristin.

Can I just say, what a HEALTHY book.  Helena has outdone herself.  Everyone loves a red flag fu** boy, but Helena added emotional maturity into this book and it was so sexy.  Literally feeling Bea compose herself and not let her worth be diminished by refusing to argue with Tristin.  I loved it.  Yes, Tristin struggles with his emotions and that's very obvious but it was a growth to allow him to acknowledge his shortcomings.  Allowing Bea to calm down and acknowledge her fear of food scarcity. I cannot get over how much I love this book and can't wait for the rest of the series.  Truly.

Also, funny story.  While reading on my Kindle Oasis, I kept seeing the page break images and could not figure out what they were while in dark mode.  Brushed it off until I placed my Kindle into regular mode and still, couldn't figure out what they were.  Not flowers, not eggs.  And then it hit me. Cucumber slices and IYKYK. I cracked up every single time I saw them afterwards. Phenomenal.

I downloaded this book based off a TikTok from the author. I’m a sucker for brother’s best friend.

Whew boy, where to start. I think I read 2 different books under 1 title. This started out a delicious little Romcom. But by the ending we took a straight 270 and veered left into something emotional that wasn’t really at the beginning? The premise is the FMC wants her brother’s best friend (MMC) to take her virginity.
Now he does, I think around 60% mark. So whoa, early conflict resolution and I think this is where it started to veer off.
I LOVED the beginning of this book. The banter was ✨perfection✨ I haven’t read banter that good in a long, long time. The FMC was adorably quirky and then lost it half way through the book. Like she got a personality transplant. Then the end happened and ok, I can see where it went where it did. Full circle for the MMC. But the epilogue was unnecessary and completely unbelievable. Ruined the book for me. I was hate reading it at the end.

I'm waffling on this one.  I really, really liked it.  But I had some not quite major, but more than minor issues with it.  I'm not even sure where to start.

The tone of the book up through 95% was very young adult.  I guess you could call it an extra, super slow burn?  I appreciate the author trying to build the relationships but she isn't. After each intimate interaction between the two MCs, they take two steps back.  At the moment, it doesn't feel like it's furthering the plot.  Which again, take me back to that young adult angsty feeling.

The infodump and world building was absolute next level.  Guanzon built a beautiful world, but holy cannoli, was I absolutely struggling with this book.  I wanted so bad to get into it because it was interesting, but the constant info dumping kept pushing me away.  I was Googling the author for something random and saw in the Google search the author's name and fanfiction.  So out of curiosity, I searched that too.  Realizing this was a Reylo fic actually made it make sense in my head.  Things started to finally click for me.

A quote from a favorite fanfiction author, InADaze22 once said about one of her fics, "...is a marathon, not a sprint." That's the feel I'm getting from this story too.  The Guanzon will skip months to then slow it waaay down.  I appreciate the character interaction, but by the end of the book, all we had gotten was the enemies married.  The arc was so small I didn't notice it.  They are still acting like enemies so it didn't feel like we got any closure and the ending didn't feel like a cliff.  I don't know.

Overall, I think The Hurricane Wars is beautifully written.  I enjoy all of the characters, even the ones we are supposed to hate.  They are done well.  I want to know where this story goes and how it's resolved so I am absolutely going to keep reading.  I'm hoping the pace picks up.  I truly believe Thea Guanzon will be a future auto-buy author for me.

I loved this book. A great, sweet and a little spicy, read. I first became interested in the series based on a post from Devney Perry. After realizing the series was written by 3 different women, I jumped in. I loved Sarina’s True North series. I’ve read Rebecca’s Empyrean series and Devney is a huge favorite. After being a little disappointed with the writing quality of the first book, I was hesitant to start this one. Especially having only read Rebecca’s fantasy books. Hesitation not necessary! I loved the story and as someone who is a 15+ year army spouse and also works for the department of the Army. A well written military hero is *chef’s kiss*. I was nervous but Rebecca easily and validly explained away anything that would have had me raising my brows at inaccuracy.
Overall, loved the book. Rebecca writes love so well and I loved this. The FMC realizing her career dreams at 18 no longer line up with her 29 year old dreams and giving it up. Totally ok because she found something that did make her happy and she didn’t have to give anything up at all.
I had a few issues with inconsistencies from book one to two but chalk that up to separate writers? I wish Ava and Reed’s miscarriage would have been brought up. I felt like if Weston had known, he wouldn’t have been such a jerk? Not that he wasn’t valid in his feelings, he just didn’t have the whole picture? Seemed odd to me. I also feel like the points about Callie’s parents were unnecessary because nothing ever went further or got resolved.
Can’t wait to dive into the next one and learn about the wild younger brother!
