I loved this book. A great, sweet and a little spicy, read. I first became interested in the series based on a post from Devney Perry. After realizing the series was written by 3 different women, I jumped in. I loved Sarina’s True North series. I’ve read Rebecca’s Empyrean series and Devney is a huge favorite. After being a little disappointed with the writing quality of the first book, I was hesitant to start this one. Especially having only read Rebecca’s fantasy books. Hesitation not necessary! I loved the story and as someone who is a 15+ year army spouse and also works for the department of the Army. A well written military hero is *chef’s kiss*. I was nervous but Rebecca easily and validly explained away anything that would have had me raising my brows at inaccuracy.
Overall, loved the book. Rebecca writes love so well and I loved this. The FMC realizing her career dreams at 18 no longer line up with her 29 year old dreams and giving it up. Totally ok because she found something that did make her happy and she didn’t have to give anything up at all.
I had a few issues with inconsistencies from book one to two but chalk that up to separate writers? I wish Ava and Reed’s miscarriage would have been brought up. I felt like if Weston had known, he wouldn’t have been such a jerk? Not that he wasn’t valid in his feelings, he just didn’t have the whole picture? Seemed odd to me. I also feel like the points about Callie’s parents were unnecessary because nothing ever went further or got resolved.
Can’t wait to dive into the next one and learn about the wild younger brother!
