The last 3rd of the book was the best part. I would have given it 3 stars without all of the twists towards the end.
Thank you to Vicki Delany, Crooked Lane, and NetGalley for an ARC of The Sign of Four Spirits in exchange for my honest review. In this 9th installment of the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery, Gemma Doyle must use her deduction skills to solve the locked room murder mystery that occurs during a séance. The quirky characters of Jayne Wilson, Donald Morris, Ashleigh, and Bunny Leigh are back to add further delight in solving this unusual (maybe even paranormal) mystery. I continue to love this series and enjoy Gemma's skills and reasoning in solving mysteries, which is a great help to her boyfriend and police investigator, Ryan, who asks for assistance. I will continue to read this series and hope many others will enjoy it as well.
Thank you to Ava Morgyn, St. Martin's Griffin, and NetGalley for an ARC of "The Witches of Bone Hill" in exchange for my honest review.
Cordelia and Eustace are estranged sisters who inherit an estate in Connecticut from a recently deceased great aunt who they did not know existed. Cordelia and Eustace's mother was always moving around and never spoke of her family. Unfortunately, their mother's death was unexpected and had "creepy" unexplained elements. The sisters soon realize that inheriting the estate comes with a dynasty trust controlled by the family's attorney. Throw in a lot more "creepy" and some romance and you have a good "spooky" book for the fall season.
Overall, the book was good. There were some slow parts of the book that keep me wondering if I wanted to continue reading. I liked the main characters but felt the character development was off at times. The ending felt rushed to me and thought there could have been better explanation about the history of the family and then what happened afterwards...maybe it will be a series.

Thank you to Danielle Steel, Random House Publiship Group, and NetGalley for an ARC of Happiness in exchange for my honest review.
Sabrina Brooks, an author, who lives in the Berkshires with her two dogs, finds out that she has inherited an English estate from an uncle she never knew. Growing up, Sabrina did not know the experience of parental love with a distant father and being abandoned by her mother. Later on, Sabrina experiences two marriages, one to a man who used her to obtain a green card and one to an abusive man. However, Sabrina is content with her life and career until she meets Grayson Abbott, the estate attorney, who throws her into feelings she has never felt. Planning to sell the estate, will Grayson change her mind and be the love of her life?
Happiness is another great addition to Danielle Steel's catalog. There are some very intense topics dealing with parental relationships, marriages that have died, and whether to take a risk on someone who by all appearances seems unavailable.
I really enjoyed the characters of Sabrina and Grayson (along with the dogs!). I definitely would recommend this book to others and can not wait to read more of Danielle Steel's books.

I highly recommend listening to the audiobook with John narrating!
