This book had so much going off after we finally built up to the full main plot in this after book 1, 2 and 3. I love Apollo and how he has progressed as a mortal (demigod?) since the first book, and I love his relationship with Meg and Jason. My heart broke during the funeral/ceremony for Jason Grace, I was not expecting it to be that sad as I wasn't a huge fan of Jason during the Heroes of Olympus series. I cannot wait to read book 5 to find out how the series ends, and to see what happens to Lester (Apollo) and if he becomes a god again.
Quotes
“How do you tell a dream from a nightmare? If it involves a book burning , it's probably a nightmare.”
“If I'm going to burn, I might as well burn bright. This is for Jason.”
“Each person's grief has its own life span; it needs to follow its own path.”
“Goodbye, Apollo,' said the Sibyl's voice, clearer now. 'I forgive you. Not because you deserve it. Not for your sake at all. But because I will not go into oblivion carrying hate when I can carry love.”
“Hazel studied Reyna’s outfit with concern. “Your sword’s in the truck. Don’t you want to take a shield or something?” “Nah. I’ve got my cloak. It’ll turn aside most weapons.” Reyna brushed the collar of her sweater wrap. Instantly it unfurled into her usual purple cape. Frank’s smile faded. “Does my cloak do that?” “See you, guys!” Reyna climbed behind the wheel. “Wait, does my cloak deflect weapons?” Frank called after us. “Does mine turn into a sweater wrap?” As we pulled away, I could see Frank Zhang in the rearview mirror, intently studying the stitching of his cape.”
“Meg peered at me over the top of her glasses. “You’re the dumbest god ever”
“The only difference between a satyr and a faun,” I said, “is what we see in them. And what they see in themselves. Plant this tree somewhere special.” I looked up at the dryads. “Tend it and make it grow healthy and tall. This was Don the faun, a hero.”
Diana raised an eyebrow. “Well, I’m not the goddess of healing, but I’m still a goddess. I think I can take care of my little brother’s boo-boos.” “Little brother?” She smirked.”
“I hated how beautiful it was. Death shouldn’t be beautiful.”
“Now-" she pointed at the coffin - "somebody want to tell me who's in there?" I really didn't. Not after I'd seen how Hazel skewered her enemies. Still... I owed it to Jason. Hazel had been his friend. I steeled my nerves, opened my mouth to speak, and was beaten to the punchline by Hazel herself. "It's Jason," she said as if the information had been whispered in her ear. "Oh gods." She ran to the coffin. She fell to her knees and threw her arms across the lid. She let out a single devastated sob. Then she lowered her head and shivered in silence.”
“Once again, I had broken the First Law of Percy Jackson: Never say something is going to work out, because as soon as you do, it won’t.”

I read 'The Deal' in September 2023, and it was boring. This book was boring too. There was little plot, little character development and I just did not get attached to this book at all. People hype this series up so much and idk why, I don't see the hype. I'm gonna read book 3, 4 and 5 in hopes they are better than book 1 and 2 but I doubt they will be better. I do not recommend this series or author as she fetisises wlw relationships, and she is just overall problematic.

I read 'The Ritual' which was the first book in this series in August 2023 (aka last summer), and I LOVED it. I loved the LORDS aspect, I loved how dark it was, loved the plot and loved the smut. And I loved those same things again while reading 'The Sinner'. I would 10000% recommend this book to people if they have read dark romance before, especially dark dark romance as this is not for people new to this genre. I loved Ellington and Sin, loved how they interacted and loved how protective Sin was of Ellington (Elli).
Quotes
“I want toxic. I want madness. I want someone who makes me question my sanity.”
“I’m willing to be her devil as much as she’s willing to be my little demon.”
“I’ll never lie to you, little demon. I will beat that ass black and blue. I’ll fuck that pretty mouth and I’ll take this cunt whenever I want. But always remember, Elli, that I love you. And no man on this earth will ever come close to feeling what I feel for you. And if he thinks he does, I’ll rip his fucking heart out.”
“If she wants to watch this house burn, I'll hand her the fucking matches.”
“I realize I’d do anything for him. To be his little demon. When I burn the world down and they ask me why, I’ll tell them the devil asked me to do it. And I wanted to make him proud.”
“Fuck, I love that she’s never satisfied. This is what I want. A challenge. I’ll fuck her until she forgets who she is, leaving a tally of her orgasms on her chest as a reminder that only I can give her what she needs.”
“Please know that you’ll always be in my thoughts, and that you will remain my little demon forever. Love, your devil”
“You belong to me now…” He growls in my ear, my scalp stinging from his tight grip. “You will beg me. You will cry for me.” His tongue runs along my cheeks, licking my tears. “You will crawl on your hands and knees for me.”
“Ellington Asher is my drug. I’d never tell her she can’t do something, but she won’t do it without me by her side. She can’t protect herself. Not like I can.”
“I love my wife and I would do anything for her, but I will always remind her that I own her. That no other man can bring her to her knees like I can. Make her beg like I can.”
“I reach out to check for a pulse and there is none. Standing, I look down into the set of dead eyes and smile. My wife did that. “Amelia,” I finally answer.”
“The devil is here to claim his little demon. She’s all mine.”
“I dream about her when I’m asleep and awake. She’s consuming me to the point I’m suffocating.”
“My sinful, sinful, little demon In my dreams, you will see That you are what I want you to be You’re my demon I’m your devil And I will keep you chained in hell forever.”

One of my fav YouTubers read the first book in this series and loved it, but it is an interconnected standalone series so I chose to read thos one as they are on KU in the UK and this book did not disappoint. I loved the main characters and I loved the storyline even if it did confuse me at times. I will be reading 'Behind the Net' sometime soon as I cannot wait to see the hype about that book.

As I was a lover of the Dreamland Billionaire series, I thought I would love this book but I was wrong. I gave this book 3.25 stars as it was far too long, the plot felt very non-existent to me and everything was dragged out. If the book was around 350 pages it would have been an amazing book, but sadly it was not. I will read the rest of the series when the books come out, but I would not reread or recommend this book to anyone tbh.

I am a HUGE lover of any kind of English and British history, so reading this book was so fun, entertaining and taught me a lot about the War of the Roses and the key figures. Jacquetta's story had me hooked from the start, and I loved her progression and her development. It also shocked me to learn she had 14 children and to see that her eldest child went on to marry King Edward IV of England. I cannot WAIT to read the other books in the Cousins' War series!!
Quotes:
“When you pray, you know that you want something, that's always the first step. to let yourself know that you want something, that you yearn for it. sometimes that's the hardest thing to do. Because you have to have courage to know what you desire. You have to have courage to acknowledge that you are unhappy without it.”
“Once more, I am watching the most powerful men in the kingdom bring their power to bear on a woman who has done nothing worse than live to the beat of her own heart, see with her own eyes; but this is not their tempo nor their vision and they cannot tolerate any other.”
“I am, at this moment, what I have always been to him: an object of beauty. He has never loved me as a woman.”
“When a man wants a mystery, it is generally better to leave him mystified. Nobody loves a clever woman.”
“I cannot know what the future will bring us,” he says in a rapid undertone. “I cannot know where you will be given in marriage, nor what life might hold for me. But I can’t let you go without telling you—without telling you at least once—that I love you.”
“Before God, I love you and cherish you more than anything in the world. Of course I want to marry you. I love you heart and soul.”

I have been a lover of Percy Jackson and Rick Riordan since I was 10 years old. It is such an amazing series and it will always be one of my top series ever. I loved Percy's attitude and how he went from being no one to being a child of the Big 3, and how important he became once he discovered who his father was. I have reread this series so many times, and I am finally annotating my copies of this series as the show episodes come out (and will do the same if we get S2 to S5 of the show for each book in the Percy Jackson series). I gave this book 4.25 stars!!
Quotes
“Look, I didnt want to be a half-blood. If you're reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now. Believe whatever lie your mom and dad told you about your birth, and try to lead a normal life. Being a half-blood is dangerous. It's scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful nasty ways. If you're a normal kid, reading this because you think it's fiction, great. Read on. I envy you for being able to believe none of this ever happened. But if you recognize yourself in these pages-if you feel something stirring inside- stop reading immediately. You might be one of us. And once you know that, it's only a matter of time before THEY sense it too, and they'll come for you. Don't say I didn't warn you."
“Deadlines just aren't real to me until I'm staring one in the face.”
“How did you die?" "We er....drowned in a bathtub." "All three of you?" "It was a big bathtub.”
“Even strength must bow to wisdom sometimes.”
“Why can't you place a blessing like that on us?" I asked. "It only works on wild animals." "So it would only affect Percy," Annabeth reasoned. "Hey!" I protested.”
"Now, if she'd invented pizza-that I could understand.”
“Your uncle," Poseidon sighed, "has always had a flair for dramatic exits. I think he would've done well as the god of theater.”
“You're pretty smug, Lord Ares, for a guy who runs from Cupid statues.”

I gave this book 3.75 stars, it wasn't horrible but I have read better books and better dark romance books. I read the first book last year and gave it a similar rating, I liked Nico in the first book and I did like it when he appeared in this one. I don't think I'll ever re-read this series as it did lack a lot.
Quotes:
“We’ll figure the rest out. But I’m not letting you go.” His jaw clenched, eyes fierce. “I can’t.” He meant what he said.
I swallowed. “Who touches me is none of your business.” “It’s always been my business.”
“If you ran, Gianna . . .” The words were malicious yet somehow as soft and desperate as sex in a war-torn field. He pressed his lips to my ear. “I would find you.”
“I just had my tongue inside you,” he said, annoyed. “You can start calling me by my first name.”
