Not going to lie I am pretty disappointed with this read. I really only liked the present day portions, which did not take up much of this book. I think the idea of Cas's perspective would have been really good if it was written properly; this was really just the same book copied and pasted with very minimal changes from the first and second books. I think the author could have added more things the reader did not know about Casteel during that time in the series. Honestly, most of it felt like the author was just buying time for the next book that will actually have plot. I think you could read the present day portions in less than an hour and be ready for the next book. My love for the characters and expectation for what's to come is the only reason this rating is not lower.

I really don't know what to say other than oh my god. The vibes of this book were so good, I loved the characters, the location, the plot, everything! If you enjoy Shakespeare or even classic literature, this book can be really enjoyable; I will say I enjoyed it more because I like Shakespeare and am familiar with his work. I think for some people, if you do not like Shakespeare or are unfamiliar the read will be a lot different. Like others have said, the beginning started a bit slow but I think in this case it helped ease the reader into the story. I couldn't really find anything wrong with the book and thoroughly enjoyed how it was written. This book really has you connecting with the characters (especially the main pov Oliver) and going along with the mystery of it all. I cried a bit at the end and am left still thinking about it. I LOVED IT

I want to preface this by saying I read "The Maidens" before I read this and this author really likes therapy lol. The vibes honestly felt really similar to me even though the stories were different, which isn't bad I guess, but did make me feel like it could've been written better. I found the main plot of this book kinda boring and slow at times but I had fun trying to figure out what the twist would be. As with the other book, I could not guess the twist! I love a good double plot twist moment, or when you think you know what's happening but you are totally wrong. Due to the action towards the end I bumped up my rating, overall still a good read.

Yay! All done with this series. I enjoyed the characters and plot twists in this book and liked the introductions into new POVS; I also wasn't completely disappointed with the ending so there's a plus. I don't really have much to say but I do think the second book and this book are much better than the first.

I loved the concepts in this book and enjoyed it a bit more than the first! There’s a lots of violent dark stuff happening which made the feel a bit different than the last. I also really enjoyed the different povs. Not much else to say honestly, just excited to finish the series now.

At first I felt like the writing was a bit juvenile but then I found myself enjoying it more as the plot got more interesting. I enjoyed this book a lot and especially love when authors make the chapters super short!
The only thing I disliked about this book was how cringey the romance started, it was only okay because of the backstory and how that was revealed. But it felt way too fast and strange for Karou and Akiva to be in love when they barely even knew each other
I think what bumped up my rating was how the ending played out and also just how fun it was to read the revealed plot twists or Karou's back story. So if anyone reading this is struggling with the beginning, just finish the book before you decide if you're going to keep going!

I didn’t really like or connect with the characters in this book but I think the writing is really beautiful. That is really the only reason I kept reading because the plot is okay, the setting is interesting, the characters are meh, but the writing was very well done.

This book took me a bit longer to get through than the rest, not sure why. I think during some parts I lost interest but it was pretty on par with the rest of the series.
One thing I actually enjoyed was the lack of spice and more plot in this book, but it got annoying really fast when all Poppy and Casteel would talk about was how much they missed each other! Don't get me wrong, I like them both, but at times I was like yes we get it, it's been 30 days since you have seen your man. Also, finally the long awaited threesome! yayayayay.
Anyways, I expect good things from the next book that is coming out in the next couple months.

I enjoyed this book about the same as the other books in the series, and even when I predict a plot twist there is always something I am slightly off about which is great! I don't really enjoy how a lot of the action and major plot points happen at the end of the story. I feel like a big chunk of this book was just put in there to fill pages and it didn't feel like much was happening for awhile; even so I enjoyed parts and especially the ending. Also so much spice that sometimes just felt unnecessary lol. So far this book was my least favorite of the series so I am hoping for more good things in the next!

I really enjoy this series so far! I think I enjoyed the plot more in this book than the first but it took FOREVER for something to happen. They were literally in New Haven from the end of the first book to like almost halfway through this book. I find the plot twists predictable but also entertaining and there is also a good amount of spice in this book. However, the timing of some of the spicy parts was odd...
like why in the carriage after all that death? and why was Casteel horny 24/7 this man could not get enough and was turned on at the most random times. Lastly, WHY IS POPPY SO CLUELESS?! Her ability literally lets her know how Casteel is feeling and she still is like "no he doesn't love me" ARE YOU DUMB?
Anyway! Overall enjoyable read and I am already onto the third book.
