Quick, easy read. Not a lot of world building or character development. I liked the sea dragons and pirate aspect the best. There are even cute animal familiars. Read if you want something light with a Moana vibe.

I still like Fourth Wing the best so far. The first third of this one I struggled to get through. There were a lot of names, places, & political intrigue talk that was a lot to remember and get through. Once I got to the adventure part where they search for Andarna’s kind and I knew who everyone was, then I enjoyed it. It was also very long.
I like the world building and will continue to follow the hype and read the rest of the series.

Set in a snowy small town in Minnesota, a woman is brutally attacked left for dead, her friend’s husband is missing and the local senior citizens start a viral true crime podcast.
Twisty and suspenseful thriller with a cozy aspect. Told from the POV of three different women. I liked the back and forth and how everything was connected.
The addition of the senior citizens trying to solve the crime gave it a cozy feel at times. The ending was creative and not what you expect.

This is not what I was expecting. I have seen this series all over and thought it was a very spicy dark romance based on the covers so I put it off….. It is not.
90% of the book is a thriller mystery about a Dexter style female killer seeking revenge on men from her past that have wronged her. She starts dating a guy who is the complete opposite of her in terms of work, so there is some romance but not what the covers lead you to believe.
The book is really short too so you can read it in one sitting. I will be flying through the rest of the series to find out what happens!

This one was unexpectedly good! I could not put it down.
Think Divine Rivals, A Darker Shade of a Magic, & the charm of Lady Whistledown from Bridgerton all mixed together.
The magic system is unique focusing on scriptomancy where magic is infused in writing with various kinds of ink. (Like Divine Rivals with the typewriters). The book focuses on the mystery of how Maeve’s dad was framed years ago and her trying to find proof to clear his name.
The writing style had a charming feel and I found myself flying through the book to see what was going to happen. There is a subtle romance subplot that was just enough for me.
I have not read her other book, but now I will check it out.

I’ve seen this one get mixed reviews. I have read every book by Frieda and this one is good just not as twisty as her books normally are. If you have read her other ones, you are trained that when you think you have it figured out to think again. This one is just a little more predictable.
I’d rank it somewhere in the bottom half of all of her books.
