A terrifying romp through the (literal) underworld of London, full of improbable, sometimes horrible and sometimes engaging, characters. A good read.

This took me a while to get into, but once I did I really  enjoyed it. Richard Osman's usual blend of quirky characters and improbable situations adding up to a really good read.

This would have read better if I had thought it was non-fiction and not known the author's history of racism.
Having said that, it was an interesting read with some great descriptions of nature and landscape, good stories, and loveable and believable characters.

This was a good read with interesting and relatable characters. The look into thee life of a nobo in Depression era America was interesting and enlightening. The friendship and support at the heart of the book was the best part of it.

This was a fun magical romantic read. Quite predictable in places, but sweet and clever. I enjoyed it a lot.

I didn't enjoy this nearly as much as "There, There". The multiple points of view were confusing, especially in the earlier part of the book dealing with historical events.Having said that, there were some interesting stories in there, and some great characters.

This is not my normal fare at all, but I found this engrossing and unputdownable. Vampires, a hidden world, fandom, romance, deception - what's not to like?  A really good read.

A compelling family drama, with echoes of Greek myths that were completely lost on mee. None of the characters were entirely likeable, and most made several poor choices, but I found them sympathetic nevertheless.

There's a lot going on in this novel - identity, belonging, sense of place, prejudice, discrimination, resilience, forgiveness. With the exception of the main character, Kate/Funke. everyone behaves badly at some point, some more than others. Reading this was an immersive experience. Compelling and unputdownable.

An interesting and engaging tale set on the planet Oceanus, where new arrivals bring new challenges and unearth old secrets.
