There's a lot going on in this novel - identity, belonging, sense of place, prejudice, discrimination, resilience, forgiveness. With the exception of the main character, Kate/Funke. everyone behaves badly at some point, some more than others. Reading this was an immersive experience. Compelling and unputdownable.
