this book is so, so good.
i cried a lot during multiple parts and if homophobia is a trigger for you, i don’t really recommend you read it. there were some heavy topics throughout and, still, this book made me cackle like books very very rarely ever do.
this was a deeply good book like i can’t even explain. the emotionally complex characters, the way every single one of them was interesting and captivated me.
i saw someone say that this was a Happy For Now book but i was so, so satisfied by how this wrapped up??? sure, not every single detail was wrapped up in a perfect little bow, but such is life????
sure, axton is likely to outlive leander by at least two life spans but that is also… life? as in, to love is to accept to mourn, i always thought.
and dana, i don’t like him, i think he’s very very sick and fucked up, i don’t even sympathize with him, but i don’t have to like someone to have empathy for them.
i wish i could write those kind of reviews that encourage people to read a book, instead of sharing my opinion in a way you have to have read it to to understand what i’m saying— most of all because this book is good.
this book is so good and i am so sad that this author has basically disappeared from the face of the earth. this seems to be quite a strong trait of the indie authors i find and enjoy and that makes me super sad. i actually loved this book so much i’m half a mind to email this author, not knowing if they still check the inbox for the address on the post-script, just to say thanks and say that if they ever feel like publishing again, there’s still a readership out here.
last but not least, finding books that make me feel this way are what make me so happy to be such an avid reader. onwards we go.

after completing this series in its entirety i have circled to leave a review for the first book.
first of all, this is the one human/werewolf romance i've ever read that doesn't do the whole... having humans being able to turn with a bite is sure fun and i have nothing against it, but it was for sure a breath of fresh air not having that be a possibility here. this series, and this book ofc, do have some things against them, and its mostly that some aspects could've been more explored.
it's not very often that i say this, but for once i feel like The Wolf at the Door could've benefitted for actually a few more pages on its entirety and explored more the aspects that made it different shifter books. For starters, this is not omegaverse at all, this is more like, Wolves Politics, despite the fact that we're not really... all that inserted in the actual wolves side of the equation.
all in all, this is very character driven story, with Cooper Dayton and Oliver Park being damn entertaining characters and just a really delightful couple to read. Not to mention that the whole investigative and mystery side in this books and all others in this series just make it even more entertaining.
so if you're reading this review by any chance and wondering if you should pick up this series, i say go damn ahead. i've read all sorts of werevolf fiction in my time and it feels rare to read something by now that truly feels different in a good way.
