karuwus 's review for:
The Wolf at the Door
by Charlie Adhara
after completing this series in its entirety i have circled to leave a review for the first book.
first of all, this is the one human/werewolf romance i've ever read that doesn't do the whole... having humans being able to turn with a bite is sure fun and i have nothing against it, but it was for sure a breath of fresh air not having that be a possibility here. this series, and this book ofc, do have some things against them, and its mostly that some aspects could've been more explored.
it's not very often that i say this, but for once i feel like The Wolf at the Door could've benefitted for actually a few more pages on its entirety and explored more the aspects that made it different shifter books. For starters, this is not omegaverse at all, this is more like, Wolves Politics, despite the fact that we're not really... all that inserted in the actual wolves side of the equation.
all in all, this is very character driven story, with Cooper Dayton and Oliver Park being damn entertaining characters and just a really delightful couple to read. Not to mention that the whole investigative and mystery side in this books and all others in this series just make it even more entertaining.
so if you're reading this review by any chance and wondering if you should pick up this series, i say go damn ahead. i've read all sorts of werevolf fiction in my time and it feels rare to read something by now that truly feels different in a good way.
