A complex story with lots of intricate layers. The twists, turns & bizarre plot line will suck you in right away. At times it can feel disjointed with all the characters involved, but I think the execution of this story was well done.
I look forward to rereading this book in the future to fully grasp the genius of it.

This was such an empowering reading experience. Baer reveals actual negative/hateful messages received from real people, and turns them into poetry but spins them into inspirational and hopeful words.
In this digital age, I think it's very easy for people to forget that there are R E A L people behind the screen. Behind the art. Behind the content. Baer takes the time to remind us to be kind. Be empathetic. Be a nice human being. I absolutely loved this! My only wish is that it were longer. Overall a very timely collection with a powerful message.

A very real & stunning collection of poems reflecting womanhood, parenthood, friendship and love.
Seeing the perception of women through another’s gaze is fascinating and one that women everywhere will be able to relate to. If you are looking for a collection of poetry, I highly recommend picking this one up!

Hilarious & wildly entertaining. I expected nothing less going into this.
If you are familiar with his work, you know that Segura doesn't necessarily have a "clean" sense of humor. I rather enjoyed it myself but can see how some might feel differently.
I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook since Segura himself narrates it. Almost every essay that features a celebrity has a photo of Tom and said celeb, which I thought was a neat touch.

You know.. I quite enjoyed this.
Phoebe is such a unique character who is a bit socially awkward and obsessed with true crime. Sam, the hunky next door neighbor, is truly a gem with a heart of gold. Watching these two interact and grow closer to one another was just so cute! I liked that he never pressured Phoebe but allowed her to progress into their romance at her own pace.
I enjoyed how this story also features complex familial dynamics and repairing childhood friendships. Not to mention a stray cat finding a forever home?? I mean.. tug on my heart strings why don't you!
If you are a true crime fanatic or a sucker for the man-next-door romances, I highly suggest checking this one out!

”Being a black girl is inhabiting a cruel riddle: Your beauty is denied but replicated. Your sexuality is controlled but desired. You take up too much space, but if you are too small, you are ripped apart. Despite the wash of it, there’s one thing you can always count on whiteness to do: destroy a threat.”
What a fantastic horror debut this was! More thoughts to come.

Belladonna deserves the hype with it's lush gothic setting, a murder mystery that keeps you guessing, & an alliance with none other than Death himself! Adalyn Grace managed to infuse this story with a murder mystery, hauntingly gothic/regency setting, spooky vibes and a delicious angsty romance.
"Your name is no curse, Little Bird. I just like the taste of it."
It was at this point that I knew Death was going to be swoony (I never thought I would say that in my entire life, yet here we are) lol.
There were many points in the book that had me gasping out loud, laughing, swooning, and rooting for our heroine along the way. The mystery, unique fantastical elements, and plot twists kept me at the edge of my seat. I had such a hard time putting this down.
"Do not change parts of yourself that you like to make others comfortable. Do not try to mold yourself to fit in the standards someone else has set for us.”
Grace's writing is sure to enchant all who pick this gem up. I will try to be patient as I eagerly await book 2, but just know that I absolutely adored this!

This book definitely has Gilmore Girls vibes so I think that makes for a perfect cozy/autumnal read. The mentions of Hart of Dixie was probably my favorite part because I think it’s such an underrated Tv show!
There were some cringey parts when it came to the smut, but that’s probably a personal thing lol.
I didn’t agree with how the FMC handled herself in the romantic conflict towards the end, but that could also just be a personal thing.
Overall this was a sweet little RomCom that I think will appeal to lovers of cheesy Hallmark movies and Happily Ever Afters.

How I feel upon finishing this book, “No thoughts, head empty.”
My rating may change at a later date after sitting with my final thoughts, but I really did not care about this story or these characters. A shame to be honest because the premise of this book was so intriguing!
I’m bummed this didn’t do it for me but I still plan to read from this author in the future.
