This one definitely exudes John Tucker Must Die meets The Bachelor, but make it sapphic!
The story follows a reality dating show featuring one man trying to get his fairytale second chance romance among a group of his exes, when two female contestants fall for each other while plotting to take him down in the end. Now doesn’t that sound like a drama filled, grand ol time?
I really enjoyed this one but think it could’ve had more drama, especially with the premise of living in a house amongst an ex boyfriend alongside his ex girlfriend’s. I guess I was expecting more toxicity than what was served but maybe these young adults are mature for their respective ages lol.
I feel as though this could have served better to a more “adult” audience rather than upper YA. That being said, I still enjoyed this one & absolutely adore Sophie as an author. I will read anything she puts out!
many thanks to netgalley for an advanced copy to read and review!

Coming off of a bad break up, Nola returns to her hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine and is far from being in a festive mood. Caleb, the resident handyman and ex boyfriend of Nola, is a bit of a grinch when it comes to the holidays and decides to unload these thoughts into the universe by writing a letter to Christmas itself penned as Resting Scrooge Face. Told in alternating POVs through a mostly epistolary format, Nola and Caleb unknowingly become pen pals discussing their mutual dislike for all things festive. Will revealing their true identity falter the connection they've managed to rekindle through these letters?
'Tis the season for holiday romances and this one certainly hits the spot. Resting Scrooge Face is a very sweet, charming, & utterly delightful Christmassy novella! The perfect book to read in one sitting while sipping hot cocoa next to your seasonal decor. If you are a fan of second chance romances, dual POV stories, small town vibes, and a little spark of the holiday spirit, be sure to pick this one up!

“Grace costs you nothing.”
Part of Your World deserves all the praise and hype! This story tackles some tough topics such as domestic abuse/violence, toxic relationships, and emotional abuse to name a few, so tread lightly before diving into this one. If you’re able to handle those sensitive situations, I highly highly recommend picking this up!

“On that day I became more than just a comic book character— I became a part of an idea that everyone deserves to see themselves as superheroes, as the leads of their own stories, or simply, just as multifaceted beings with hopes and aspirations and flaws.”
In We Were Dreamers, Liu reflects back on his childhood, the harrowing journey of Simu’s parents migrating from China to create a better life in North America, and the incredible progression of his career.
A remarkable story of resilience in the face of adversity, from not only those outside of his family but also from within. Simu’s raw account of his upbringing is insightful and at times very tough to read about.
You can very clearly see the love and utmost respect he has for his family, culture & craft.
Then you get to the acknowledgments and the bit about his pup made me sob😭
Just an overall great human being honestly.

I enjoyed this continuation to the Tattered and Torn series. The villainous ending moment was a bit far fetched in my opinion and didn’t quite make sense for the characters, but I adored this nonetheless!
“..I’d been half in love with Calder Cruz from the moment he’d taught me to chase the stars.”
Come onnn the relationship of Hadley and Calder was angsty, bit of a second chance/bad timing, and ultra sweet!! I liked how he taught Hadley to fly and find an outlet when her overbearing mother was too much to handle.
This one ticked off a lot of my favorite tropes— small town, mutual pining, single parent, workplace and also featured the iconic brothers best friend & friends to lovers.
I am excited to continue on with this romantic suspense series because I am absolutely hooked!!

Tattered Stars lures you in from the jump with the first three lines:
"Be brave. For sixty seconds. Twenty breaths."
We come to realize just how important those seven words are to our heroine, Everly. As a kid, she went against her family and all she learned growing up to save a kidnapped little girl. That act of courage left her disgraced within her community forcing Everly to leave everything behind. Fast forward to the present day when Everly returns to her childhood home to build an animal sanctuary in a place stemmed from so much hurt and pain. Her return is not welcomed by her family, nor Hayes, the big brother that was affected by the kidnapping all those years ago.. can Hayes let go of the past in order to build a future with Everly?
I am OBSESSED. This story is not only heartbreaking, but suspenseful, swoony & entirely captivating! I was consumed with it all from the very start!!
"You showed me that there is more power in facing ghosts and tearing them down, than pretending they don't exist."
The relationship between Hayes & Everly is absolutely beautiful. The way in which they were connected to the traumatic event when they were kids, to watching them grow and form a strong inevitable bond as she returned to town in order to build something beautiful where such darkness took place. I just loved watching them grow in their friendship (with much resistance on Hayes' part) to blossoming in a romantic relationship! Not to mention Hayes' family accepting Everly as she is!! *que the tears*
If you like small town romances, relationships with shared trauma and strong female characters- PICK THIS UP!!!

**The way Miss CC had me in a chokehold from the Prologue && still does because I am on my way to read all about Hadley and Calder😍

I’m bummed I didn’t love this one like I did with The Ex Hex. Sadly I did not think the relationship had any depth, tension, or chemistry. 🤷🏻♀️
Quite frankly I’m shocked this made it on the list of best romances of 2022… this was just not for me, friends.
If you want something quick, this series is a good one to pick up.
