Tattered Stars lures you in from the jump with the first three lines:
"Be brave. For sixty seconds. Twenty breaths."

We come to realize just how important those seven words are to our heroine, Everly. As a kid, she went against her family and all she learned growing up to save a kidnapped little girl. That act of courage left her disgraced within her community forcing Everly to leave everything behind. Fast forward to the present day when Everly returns to her childhood home to build an animal sanctuary in a place stemmed from so much hurt and pain. Her return is not welcomed by her family, nor Hayes, the big brother that was affected by the kidnapping all those years ago.. can Hayes let go of the past in order to build a future with Everly?

I am OBSESSED. This story is not only heartbreaking, but suspenseful, swoony & entirely captivating! I was consumed with it all from the very start!!

"You showed me that there is more power in facing ghosts and tearing them down, than pretending they don't exist."

The relationship between Hayes & Everly is absolutely beautiful. The way in which they were connected to the traumatic event when they were kids, to watching them grow and form a strong inevitable bond as she returned to town in order to build something beautiful where such darkness took place. I just loved watching them grow in their friendship (with much resistance on Hayes' part) to blossoming in a romantic relationship! Not to mention Hayes' family accepting Everly as she is!! *que the tears*

If you like small town romances, relationships with shared trauma and strong female characters- PICK THIS UP!!!

**The way Miss CC had me in a chokehold from the Prologue && still does because I am on my way to read all about Hadley and Calder😍
