It’s hard to rate this lil short story because I adore Maddy and Doug and am beyond thrilled they found love together, but sadly this didn’t give me the five star feels.
I highlighted SO many quotes and moments within this 30+ page story. I loved how they were able to relate in such a deep way when in the past, they felt lonely. The humor was present along with the core characteristics we’ve seen throughout the POYW series.
Straight up cutesy cutesy cutesy.

“True love does not cower in the shadows; it roars, loud and proud, until it has given its all.”
HEAR ME OUT.
This book gave me the “people coming together under quirky circumstances” found family aspect of Vera Wongs Unsolicited Advice for Murderers, plus a second chance moment in Schitt’s Creek involving a speed dating event, mixed with the self growth journey of a single mother rediscovering herself after divorce in This Could be Us. Not to mention the obvious dating for a column inspiration from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! That might sound ultra specific but it just makes sense 🤌🏼
In this story we are following Anna, a recent divorcee focusing on her two children and career as a columnist for her local magazine. When Anna’s office rival vies for her column, she makes a spur of the moment pitch for a dating segment in which all of her dates are picked by her children! When sparks fly with someone she least expected, Anna must decide if she’s willing to give love another try.
I loved watching Anna let her guard down and embrace the journey as she met new people, formed new friendships, and even opened her heart to something she never imagined would find her again.
Will really is such a charming gentleman. His kind heart made it easy to fall in love with him. The way he showered up in small and big ways made my heart soar for Anna! He reminded her that she IS worth everything and more.
The found family and connections made throughout the book was so special. It’s one of my favorite tropes so watching this grand cast of characters come together in the end had me crying happy tears.
This truly was entertaining from start to finish. I laughed, swooned and even shed some tears. The perfect well rounded recipe of a great read.

I could only suspend disbelief so much and I’m not sure I can believe these characters were that dumb regarding the medical emergency situation but making sure they still got their rocks off.
We didn’t get to see much firefighting or high stakes scenes (besides the one on the mountain). I also wanted MORE interactions with the hotshots crew. I feel like they were barely present throughout the book. Plus the thing about someone from Scottie’s past coming back? Eye roll. I feel like the author put in that plot point for the sake of the couple having some sort of conflict even though it was over and done in a matter of pages.
I enjoyed the ambulance spice and little else about the book unfortunately. I’m still curious to read the next one since it’s written by a different author.

This story was definitely different from what I’m used to with Klune’s books, but his signature charm and found family excellence was ever present. Although it was a bit predictable with spice that seemed unnecessary, this was still an enjoyable read.

“If people started to believe that there’s something in life that only people who read can discover, stories in this world that only people who read can tell, wouldn’t more of them be seduced to peel back the pages of a book?”
I quite adored this quiet, character focused story about this cast of individuals finding a sense of community and connection in their local indie bookshop. I love how books and their impact on readers was at the forefront. I appreciated getting to see how various stories guide us in our own life journeys. I thought the author was clever with her storytelling in that way.
I really enjoyed this book and can see myself revisiting this gem when feeling adrift 🥹

Okay so I read the trad published version and thought it had such a strong start but the pacing fell off a bit in the middle and end. At some point I’ll probably read the indie pub edition since it felt like it could’ve used an extra 100 or so pages because the story felt so condensed. There was a little too much telling instead of showing during different parts of the story for me but I still really enjoyed this overall.
Anyways what I loved about this story was the BANTER! I was eating up all the little quips Cayden would say and the way he was so quick with it. The things he would say had me melting & dying simultaneously 🙂↔️
This core friendship group and found family was another aspect I adored! I have to say, I wish Finnian got more page time because I loved him! Can we get more Finn in the next book please?!
This book had some pretty brutal moments that was unexpected, but felt completely necessary & lined up with the plot + characters. Plus the spice? Sheesh. I was into it 🤭
I thought this was such a strong start to the series. I’m excited and eager for the next book!!

Well… I didn’t like this at all 😅
I should’ve dnf’d at the 20% mark because I was feeling iffy about it once the religious aspect was revealed. Then after the “daddy issues” storyline came into play, it steadily went downhill for me. I thought the little “romance” situation was unnecessary and I thought there would be some sort of reconciliation with the waitress friend but alas, Vesper didn’t give any fcks.
Even though this wasn’t a favorite, I’ll still be picking up more books from RH.
