This was okay, the story didn’t really grab me until I was about 2/3 into it. I also didn’t really care about any of the characters. Still, some parts were fun, but some were kinda boring too 🙈

I only finished this because I was reading it for a romance book club I’m in. This is Icebreaker, but worse if you can believe it. If I never have to hear/read the words “good girl” (or any variation of that) again it’ll be too soon. I just don’t GET it. It’s not sexy it’s infantilising I HATE it. I have a whole list of things/phrases I didn’t like in my notes app. Might share that 😂 the only positive thing is that I completed my reading goal for this year but did it really have to be this book? 🫥 it’s my own fault I guess, for finishing it. Can’t wait to bash it at book club tonight, I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like it 😆

The only thing I liked about this was that he took her bookshopping. Oh, and the cat. The cat is the best character. He has a stupid name though 🙄

OH and the fact that she made him read freaking ICE PLANET BARBARIANS 💀💀💀 I’m dead

I knew it would probably break me and boy did it deliver 👌🏼😭 easily one of the best books I’ve read so far this year

I didn’t think this would be a book for me, but for some reason I wanted to keep reading and reading. Which is strange to me, because I didn’t like any of the characters. Basically this book is just beautiful people with serious mental issues doing a lot of drugs and feeling sorry for themselves. All of them were completely unhinged and in serious need of therapy. So why would I enjoy it? I’ve never read anything quite like this story. Immaculate writing, crisp prose. Very interesting to read from different POV’s. I’ve always loved third person narration, but this is unique. For instance: the first time you notice this as a reader is when we not only hear Cleo and Frank’s thoughts, but also the bodega worker’s. It paints the scene very vividly. 

Okay when I said I didn’t like any of the characters, I lied. I did really enjoy Eleanor and her chapters and was so happy to with the way the story ended. 

Happily surprised by how much I enjoyed this. 

Misschien mis ik iets, maar ik begrijp niet waarom je dit boek zou schrijven… wtf did I just read? 😶 oh, en het staat vol met negatieve stereotypen, ook heel fijn 🙄
