This biographical picture book of Tolkien is gorgeous. GORGEOUS. Grab a copy for yourself, even if you have kids.

Using a real document of sale from a plantation, author and illustrator Ashley Bryan considers the untold stories of eight slaves. Gorgeous art with accompanying free verse, the book is a great way of presenting American history to young children.

I hadn't planned on crying at work but here we are, tissues and tears over a wonderful children's picture book about dealing with grief after a death.

Matt Spink's illustrations are wonderful and delightful. The colors simply pop out of the page. Perfect for Toddler Storytime!
