Oh My God, Heathcliff, can you just chill for a minute? Yours and Catherine's story is entertaining and amazing but do you know it took all of my energy not to throw the book at the wall? The modern equivalent of this would be that annoying couple that fights through a dinner party only to catch them making out heavily in the closet, wherein they would be annoyed that you interrupted their fit of passion. Excuse me while I grab the garden hose you melodramatic idiots; you're ruining the desert tray.
I found that I enjoyed this book more when I browsed through the pages instead sitting with serious intent. It's a great collection of thoughts and experiences of the 50s/60s/70s Hollywood age .
I had read this book ages ago when I was in Austen Adaptation Mode. I remember liking it so much that I wanted to have a copy in my personal library. I'm sure it's because I'm now old and cynical but this isn't as good as I remember. The main character can be catty in certain situations wherein I don't see the original version doing so. I still like the book as it is a palate cleanser but it's not the best book either.
Fun book with a lot of great ideas. I'm not sure I would use some of the ideas at my library as the mess factor, plus the cost factor, would be an issue but highly recommended for moms and dads looking to expand STEM at home.
Have you ever been in a book situation in which you know the story so well that it doesn't have the impact you thought it would? I have watched so many adaptations of this story and when I go to reread the book it feels like a chore. It's still amazing but it's one of those moments in which your experiences are against you.
This was a lot of fun. The characters were great and the story was intriguing. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun ghost story on a dark, cold night.
