I was expecting one the characters to actually try to persuade the other that they should be a couple again and that this story was how they persuade the other. The only persuasion came at the end of the story in a sweet love letter. This whole story felt really long, uneventful for the most part, and could have been much shorter if the two characters actually shared a meaningful conversation about their past history earlier in the story.

This was not my favorite Jane Austen, and while I’m glad that I read it, it is not one that I would read again. Persuasion just felt unfinished and needing some more work to get it to my expected Jane Austen caliber of writing.

Carrie Aarons has created a fun small town community with a hunky family of brothers. Keaton Nash and Presley both have decent depth to them that makes their personalities shine through. Their mysterious back stories for Keaton’s brothers set-up interest for the next books in the series. Presley’s dialogue was hilarious and I loved her sarcastic and witty retorts. This story made me laugh, cry, and bemoan silly human misunderstandings right along with the characters in the story. I am so happy that I found another small town romance that will have continuing characters throughout the series.

I am in love with Bowen and Lily! Carrie Aarons ripped my heart out, stomped on it, and then gave me a beautiful box of chocolates as she mended it back together, better than before. This Nash Brother book is by far the one with the most feels and a sweet couple, just struggling to not let their past come back and rip them apart again. It's the best kind of second chance romance because Bowen and Lily have chemistry that is off the charts. My one hiccup with this story is that Lily’s dad threatens Bowen about seeing his daughter again, but instead of him actually following through on that promise, he just yells at his daughter and Bowen. I was expecting at least a threatening lawyer call about taking Bowen’s barber shop, or a nasty rumor spread through town. However, the story is not lacking in the least, the heartbreak and healing that these two go through is intense and shows just how powerful true love can be in those who are willing to accept it. Bowen and Lily’s story is my favorite of the Nash Brother’s series and I would definitely read it again.

Lauren Royal wrote an enchanting tale of how disaster can bring people together in the most unlikely of ways. The chemistry between Colin and Amy was so swoony! I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. The dialogue was more modern than from the 1600s, but peppered with some odd sayings. The pranks that Colin plays were over the top most of the time, and not that funny. The historical aspect was fairly realistic, but liberties were taken with the time period that made this story more fanciful and like a fairytale than historical. I really enjoyed the “historical fact checking” the author did at the end. I’d give When An Earl Meets A Girl three out of five stars.
