Read this to my 7 year old daughter on a cold cuddly Sunday. It took us a few hours, but we finished it in a day. We both really loved it. I read a bunch of Roald Dahl's books when I was a kid, but never this one, and I think I might have loved the book as much as she did.

This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid, and I loved reading it with my daughter. The language is so descriptive, and the characters are so strong, it makes the story memorable over 25 years later. I loved re-experiencing it with her. Love this book.

This is my 2nd time reading this one. I found it much more enjoyable as an audio book. As written, I remember it dragged on in places, but Davina Porter narrates so vividly that she holds your interest flawlessly.

Overall, this story isn't as gripping as the previous books, though it contains some major story points. It contains Roger's account of how his mother died, which is later detailed (and further explained) in Gabaldon's 2nd novella.

On to book 6.
