So good! Immediately engaging. Great characters. Wonderfully told story.

In the middle, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, knowing that it would, but not when or how. At the end I kept wondering how he would wrap it all up, and what would actually happen. I loved it.

I think I wanted to like this book a lot more than I actually did. Likely an audio book was not the best medium for it as often the footnotes were hard to follow.

This is a VERY detailed very entangled historical fiction novel where magic, fairies and magicians are part of early 19th century England. I found myself taking a while to get into the story, and needing to re-read sections a couple times. The story was interesting, but just not my favorite.

Great mystery that kept me guessing, kept me engaged, and kept me curious. All the right things you want in a good mystery novel. I enjoyed how the story was told from different perspectives, giving you clues to how the whole picture comes together.

Lead characters with flaws always leave me a bit conflicted. You want to like them, but at the same time, you don't. This book was certainly the case.

Several layers of mystery. Interesting twists and turns. Kept me very interested throughout the book.
