I only picked this book up because after being plagued with commercials for the movie I had to see what the deal was. The trailer made the movie seem funny. The book, which did have some comedic parts, was not a comedy. I don't normally read zombie books but this wasn't your typical "I want to eat your brain and roam the earth" type of book. It was a heart felt story of a zombie that was not like the others. Who wanted to be more, become more. He ate someone's brains, met a girl, fell in love, started to change the world and left me hanging. That's the only reason I gave it three stars, was the cliff hanger.
I cried! I was emotional and anxiety ridden. I just loved this book. It was a little rough to read at first, for personal reasons. All the feelings Hailey was feeling at the beginning I totally understood all too well. Its just a great book on decisions that you make in a relationship for not only the relationship but for yourself. It questions your own self worth. Do you love yourself enough to walk away? Do you care enough about yourself go not tolerate the bullshit. If you've ever been in an unfaithful relationship, you'll be able to relate. And if you haven't, then I still think you will feel for Hailey's character.
I don't think I could not like an Emily Griffin book. I love her books even though they tend to be slow to get into, like this one. But I was pretty disappointed with the ending. I feel like I was left hanging.
I wanted to like it. But just couldn't get into it. The idea of fairy tales being true and having to navigate through them, awesome! But it failed to deliver. The author would tease you with the curse and the stories. I liked the way it ended. It makes you want to read the second one to find out what happens. But not so sadly, I'm in no rush to read the rest of the series, if at all.
it was alright. some parts were funny. this was a recommendation by b&n since I bought Tucker Max and Jenny Lawson. this was a much closer match to Lawson than it was to Max.
I wanted to give it at least three stars but I couldn't. Towards the end it was getting good, I thought a cliff hanger was coming... but it didn't. It was pretty predictable and some aspects pulled on the Fifty Shades of Gray concept of needing to "own" someone. Took me longer than it should have to read because it never really got me. If there's a follow up to this I'm not sure how that's going to happen. The author seemed to wrap everything up pretty tight with a bow.
Take away all the biblical stories which are not my cup of tea to begin with, I just couldn't get into it. There was just too much jumping around and you spent most of the book waiting for him to find his deceased daughter and then poof, she just happens to live. This was a B&N Friday Freebie, you get what you pay for. I can't recommend this one though unless you're into semi nonfiction pieces based on bible stories. Potential was there to be a good story but it just failed. Too many characters, that just came in and disappeared without much warning. And you never find out what happens with him and his daughter once they make it back to present day.
I loved this book! Not only was it an easy and enjoyable read it was informative. A must read for any woman. Whether you're working or still in school, married or dating, with children or not. I think every woman can find something relatable in this one. Most of us will not lead Fortune 500 companies is our lives but the "struggles" are the same. This book talks about not necessarily how society tends to view women, but how we hold ourselves back. And the almighty, "can you have it all"? Sandberg squashes that notion. Ladies, just read it!
