THE OZ IDENTITY IS REVEALED!

Well...that was okay. I mean I get why. It's to give superman some family moments. To question him. I think having Oz who he is shows how devious, or how fucked up, the man who's pulling the strings is. How he knows how to hurt the man of steel and give him a hell of a tortured mind. Saying that we also get Superman running around the world saving people because that's what he does best. Also first story is Superman working with Lex and it's a different twist on it all.

Good: The short little lex story worked well and showed both their true selves which I enjoyed. I also liked some of the Oz reveal, especially with Jon being kind of the open minded individual that the two other Kents were not. I also thought the fights were pretty intense.

Bad: The art was a little iffy sometimes, especially in the Oz section. I also thought the dialog was a little on the nose at times and to 90's (come on Dan!) Also the reveal was kind of like 'Oh...." And not all that amazing.

This was a solid volume but I just expected more from the great "Oz". I like the future idea of hurting superman emotionally but beyond that this volume wasn't nearly as good as the last one that's for sure.

This was a tough one to judge because there's things I LOVE and some that just kept nagging me.

So the story is about a superhero who decides he has had ENOUGH! He's ready to take control of the united states by...killing the president. I mean that's how the story starts it's not a spoiler. Once he does the deed he goes on national television and claims he will not let the corrupt government hurt the citizens anymore. That change MUST come. IN doing so the people of the united states government and army go after the remaining superheroes of the country. So thanks to John's actions of killing the president his old crew who worked with him to save people are now under fire.

Good: I really enjoyed the setting and idea in here. The idea of the president getting murdered and a new law of independence and revolution beginning is interesting. Tom and the crew are all entertaining. I mean NO one is really likeable but glimpses of the past that combine with the current actions it all makes more sense. I also really enjoyed the ending and while it might be bleak to some I thought it elevated the message.

Bad: The art wasn't something I particularly enjoyed. I didn't mind the bleak or doomed atmosphere but more than so many lines and such happening that the action was really hard to tell what was happening. Also everyone had that resting bitch face going on that just wasn't working for me. I also thought the middle dragged a bit and having one less chapter probably would have made it flow better.

Overall I enjoyed the story a lot and the characters despite them all being pieces of shit. I'd rate the story alone a 4 out of 5. BUT this is a graphic novel, and the art wasn't very good, or didn't gel with me. So for that art I'd give it around a 2. So together it's going to make a 3 out of 5. I think for the story alone this is worth checking out. Warren Ellis does a very good job there!

Ah damn after such a awesome build up I can't help but be let down some.

So this is it. Gog is going around the earth doing wonderful things. Hell have the Justice Society is on his side. Before we get to the main event though we get a couple of one shots of characters we've seen, a few of Gog, a few of Earth 22 Superman and so on. Then the final two issues come to the conclusion of the Gog arc. Can he be trusted? What does he want? And how will they eventually stop him?

Good: The art still remains good. One of my favorite is the last issue that goes back and forth between regular comic art and Alex Ross art. Very cool idea. I also really enjoyed the stuff with Superman trying to find his place. Powergirl knowing who she is. And the end of the whole arc was really well done.

Bad: The Damage stuff could have been way better. Felt too typical. I also thought the end fight was the same thing we've seen a million times. Not to mention some of the one shots, the history of certain characters, could have been cut short.

Overall this was solid fun and the ending was well done but a lot of padding was in this volume. I'd go with a 3 out of 5 because it was the weakest of the entire 3 part arc.

"The start of a new era!" Yep, sure does feel like it.

Deathstroke has been one of the bigger surprises out of Rebirth. It got Christopher Priest writing style mixed with a character I gave two shits about, and formed into one hell of a book about family and betrayal. The "new era" the book claims at the start feels like something new while keep the past of what worked intact.

So Deathstroke has gone religious. Yes, you heard that right, but now he's ready to stop killing and turn to God. I mean he'll still fuck you up but he doesn't want to kill. In doing so he decides to form this "Academy" which is just taking a bunch of kids/young adults and forming a team called the Defiance. However, half the team is his family...and we all know how well that works out in the end.

Good: The team dynamic is messy as shit but in a good way. You have good people on here like Power Girl and Kid Flash mixed up with people like Rose and Slade you know it can't end well, and it doesn't, but it'll sure make you laugh. The art stays with style and everything looks really well done. Also the idea of focusing on each character and giving them growth is great.

Bad: It, like most of Deathstroke so far, can get confusing. Priest doesn't write in a normal way that's easy to understand, but that kind of makes you want to re-read it. Still, it can be confusing and also this one is really short compared to the others. And it feels like a set up, I have a feeling what we get next will show what it's all about.

Overall this is another very solid volume in a already solid series. While volume 3 remains the best there still hasn't been anything horrible. A 3.5 out of 5.

So this is the end of "New Super-man" solo title. The next time we see him he'll be New Super-man and the Justice League of China! So how was this? A pretty fun send off but not as great as I hoped.

So in this one we have a Khan who is far more focused on what he must do. He's still learning to use his powers and still on his chase to be the best he could be HOWEVER he now has a more family dynamic to cover. Especially with his recent findings on his mother. Also the flash of china, bat-man of china, and wonder woman of china all team up together to stop a threat. Then head to America to meet the Justice League of America!!! Oh snap!

Good: The moments of tenderness with Khan and his family is great. Also the stuff with JLA meeting the JLC was wonderful. Just real fun and humor you expect from Gene Luen Yang. I also think the art is solid and some wonderful fights in here on top of great emotional faces and such.

Bad: The ending kind of was a let down. Nothing too big or exciting. It felt like just another issue. Also the big bad was just a super charged super saiyan type. Been there done that.

Overall this was a solid send off. I was hoping for a bigger ending to lead into the Justice League of China but for now this will do for a fun adventure. A 3 out of 5.

This was freaking fantastic. While volume 4 remains the highlight of the series this is damn good.

So as you know by now Marcus is back. That didn't gel with me last volume because I LOVED his death so I didn't want him to return. However, reading him in this made me realize how much I missed him. I'm glad the series still shines the light on the new kids, giving them more romantic problems, and more growing pains, but we get enough about Marcus, Maria, and even the past of Saya in this volume. However when Viktor and his crew are on Marcus tracks everything goes to hell, as only Deadly Class can be.

Good: The art is still amazing. The fights are some of the best drawn ever and the facial expressions bring a lot of emotion to the table. The tales all feel well made and for a reason. New love is started and it's a great relaxing chapter. The meet of the old students and new works really well. Love how flawed so many characters are yet they are all so interesting. Saya's background is both horrifying and fully engaging.

Bad: Maybe the romance chapter felt a little long. That's about it.

I loved this volume almost as much as 4. This series is a roll and right now it's one of the best in the business. A 4.5 out of 5.

If I were to rate this it's really broken down like this.

Black Adam and Isis Arc - 2/5 - Boring and kind of just there. There's a few glimpses of interesting character development but the rest is just meh.

The final two part story 1/5 - Boring, bad dialog, nothing connects.

The farewell issue - 4/5 - It's a birthday for stargirl and it's really well done. Has heart, humor, and well done dialog that we've come to enjoy in this series.

I'ma have to go with a 2 out of 5 for this one because only one good thing worth reading. However, just for that issue alone read it, skip the rest.

I really dug the first Bad Games. The two sequels, while fun, lacked what the first had. Suspense.

Malevolent takes place sometime after the last one. Amy has moved on with that life. The family of crazies are all done. Except one little bitch who doesn't want to stay dead. Remember psycho ass Kelly from the last one? Well she's back and she wants to play a "game" like the people she followed in the last book.

We have a few new character joining the fold and we have a plan that seems so batshit insane that it actually might work. This is more Strangers type movie edition than anything else.

Good: The dialog is still pretty solid. Jeff gives a good voice to everyone, kind of gets you to trust and know them. We also get some badass moments, mostly from Caleb. The ending leaves a interesting way this series could go for sure.

Bad: Everyone is so fucking dumb. I get it's a horror book so they have to be kind of but damn. There's so many moments of frustration, and not in a "damn I didn't see that coming" but in a "How fucking stupid is this?" moment. Also Kelly wasn't nearly as scary as the brothers or the sister from the previous 3 books.

Overall it's a 2.5-3 out of 5. It's fun, it's easy, it's enjoyable, but not as memorable as the last few. I'll still read this series if it continues because it's fun but I won't lie. I'm just a tad bit let down.

This was a pretty fun story.

So the end of the world is coming, or so some people think, so they begin to build a home away from everyone else. As the parents of this community trying to prepare for the end the kids begin to revolt and they murderer every single parent. Two kids see this and run away from the rest of the children of the corn type kids and tus begins a tension filled adventure of survival. Why did they kill the parents? What is coming? Will the two kids who don't agree the rest live? All these questions begin to pop up in this thriller.

Good: The art is pretty solid. The facial emotions and death scenes are well drawn. I also thought the start was horrifying and set it up real well. How merciless the kids were when they mowed down their parents was disgusting and scary. Also the ending sets up some great new ideas.

Bad: The middle portion kind of drags a bit. I also thought the premises, while cool, needs to be flushed out. The reasoning behind what people do what they do. However, this is the first part of a 3 part series.

Overall this is a very solid book. It's intriguing and I really want to see what comes next. Hope it gets even better. A 3.5 out of 5.

This was like watching the Justice League cartoon. Fun and easy but nothing that'll stick.

So I guess after the backlash of identity crisis/tornado's path (I love both) they decided we needed to make this one more cheerful. Black Canary and Green arrow about to get married. Their friends gather around to see this and BAM the Injustice League begins to attack. First going after Firestorm and nearly killing him and then attacking everyone one by one. In a chase to see who will get the upper-hand on who first the Justice league will have to face all their greatest villains!

Good: The humor is pretty good. I really enjoy Batman in here because he's not such as sour puss. I also enjoyed watching everyone team up. Most people got to shine, especially Black Canary, red arrow, Jon as green lantern, and even firestorm. The two short stories in the back, while not amazing, serve as fun little stories as well.

Bad: The art isn't horrible but my gosh is it there to show off asses. I mean, not that I'm completely complaining. I love to see Black Canary and Wonder Woman's asses but still, it's like every single pose has their ass just popping out. And Diana's suit is like riding up her crotch extra hard here. Was little obvious. Also the villains ideas of taking over are just that, taking over. The grand scheme felt like a cartoon episode.

Overall while fun and enjoyable it lacked any real punch. However, in-between other books I'm reading this run might serve as a fun old school superhero romp between the more mature or dark tales. A 3 out of 5.
