This was a solid close to a pretty damn fun series. I do know Coates is taking over but this felt like a close for Jeff's story.
So Thanos is out of luck. He's stranded on a planet and awaiting death. A couple of bums even beat the shit out of him that's hot pitiful he is. So what happens? The crew who was on a mission to kill him goes to fucking SAVE HIM. Why? Because Thanos sun has the power of the phoenix and that bitch is insane. So now Thanos must travel to the end of the universe, meet some witches, and get his power back.
Good: The whole issue of Thanos dealing with WHO he IS is fantastic. It's such a cool what if I can't help but love it. I really started to enjoy Thanos brother in here too. Gamora and big dude fucking was a fun little thing to add. Thanos has a couple of great lines as well and the final showdown is fun.
Bad: The fight was fun but it was just two issues of Dragon Ball z level of fucking each other up. Kind of gets a bit boring. Also the ending kind of starts same where it began. It felt like it could have never happened.
Overall while not the greatest series of the year it's one of the more entertaining. For 12 issues this is worth checking out and sounds like the new series is even better. Check it out! 3 out of 5.

Tom Taylor has truly made All-New Wolverine a character piece. This story is all about Laura, and the lovely side cast, that mold her into who she truly is now.
Wolverine is trying to get away from the city with Gabby. Too much bad has happened. We find out about a gas that makes Laura go nuts and feral. She is infected with it when she goes into town and "kills" a bunch of people. She is then on the run. Other characters come in, and we begin to dive deeper into the broken nature of the young wolverine. By the end it comes to a personal, dark choice, that forms her into the one we know as Wolverine today.
Good: The art is a improvement and much smoother this volume. I also really enjoyed the character growth here. Watching Laura come to realize who she is, what she is, it worked really well. I also still love Gabby and she remains the humor without feeling forced.
Bad: The story's pacing gets a bit wonky and not as well as previous volumes. With the Enemy of the State 2 headline you're expecting more crazy action. It's not.
Overall I really still love this series. While the last volume remains my favorite of the run this still holds high up. A very high 3.5 is what this deserves but I'll bump it to 4 since it's been so damn fun. Keep it up Tom!

Nightwing continues it's solid, fun adventure, without throwing any big "twist" or "turns" into it.
Nightwing heads back to Bludhaven because, well he has to. Bludhaven and nightwing go together like peanut butter and jelly. So saying that we head back but this is very different. Gone the dirty dark gritty streets of Bludhaven and filled with a Las Vegas type setting. Looking spectacular but under it lies dark secrets. Dick is trying to find his place after the last volume of getting his shit wrecked and betrayed. So now he meets a new group of people, really young adults/kids, trying to place their old criminal life's behind them. On top of that Dick is also beginning to spark a relationship because, well he's Dick, and he needs to get some all the time.
Good: I enjoyed the group of criminals trying to fix themselves. Redemption arcs can be interesting and watching them work with Nightwing to fix things was nice. I also really enjoyed Richard as always, trying to find his place, and helping fight crime with his happy go lucky style is fun. I think the biggest positive comes from the last Issue. While I don't think Tim Seeley writes plots so far all that great he does character moments really really well. The last issue is building two characters up very well.
Bad: The art, while solid, feels too safe for Nightwing. I just don't think it fits the look of the man in black and blue. I also thought the big reveal at the end of who is bad was SO obvious that it hurt. Like anyone who's read a couple of books or watched a few movies or TV shows can see it coming from a mile away. Also the fights were lackluster.
Overall Nightwing suffers from similar problems of the first volume. It's not horrible by any means, it's solid, but the moments of character interaction and growth is where the series really shines and we need more like the last issue. For now it's GOOD but could be GREAT. A 3 out of 5.

So Gwenpool is back and she's...kind of leading the Modok people? While doing that she teams up with Spider-man (Miles) and goes on adventures with him. It's actually mega-meta storyline that is solved by reading older issues of Ultimate Spider-man. Then we head into a new storyline where aliens are chasing Gwen to take her back to her world? Universe? I dunno how to explain where she's from.
Good: The fun humor is still there. It's light and always enjoyable to read. I also enjoyed the miles stuff as it made me laugh a few times. The Meta idea was interesting and actually made sense for me. The colorful art is also a plus and Gwen is so freaking cute <3
Bad: The storyline is pretty okay. I wasn't fan of the villains like the Doom bot or aliens (if count doombot as evil). I also thought the ending was kind of silly and made no sense. Not in the over the top way but predictable way.
Overall this was fun and enjoyable. Just like volume 1 I had fun reading it and think a lot of people will enjoy it. It doesn't blow my mind but it was def a fun storyline. I'll award this fun storyline a 3 out of 5.

Well...this was a something. So you know of Judas Contract right? I mean even if you haven't read of it you know of it. From Slade being a creepy villain who uses one of the teen titans who is sleeping with him (teen people. As in like 15 years old) and then Nightwing emerges from it all. So of course such a big event they had to re-create it.
Slade wakes up one day and says no...I want to save my son. The crazy fuck who died from fighting the titans. How to do that? Try to do some Flashpoint shit. He kidnaps both Wally's (There's the red head and the black Wally Flash now) and uses both of them in terrible ways. The result has the Titans and Teen Titans teaming up but really just to talk. There is almost no fighting in here and really just leads to Slade starting a "new" life.
Good: The ending is easily the best part. I loved seeing where Slade was going and his new direction sounds batshit insane but fun. I also enjoyed the moments of him trying to save his son but no matter what his son would never listen.
Bad: The dialog. Dan...DAN!!!! Why do you keep having characters talk so...unreal like? I mean do we need them to repeat everyone's name 500 times. Ugh, see my Titans volume 1-2 review to get more of my hatred for his writing style of Titans to understand. Also Damien seems WAY off here and does unspeakable things that make no sense.
Overall a lackluster event for three ongoing comics all ranging from bad (titans) to decent (teen titans) to really good (Deathstroke). This doesn't help any of them except maybe the end for Deathstroke. Can't give it higher than a 2 out of 5.

The Flash, Vol. 2: Speed of Darkness
Steve Wands, Chris Sotomayor, Joshua Williamson, Oclair Albert, Felipe Watanabe, Ivan Plascencia, Jorge Corona
This was the first book I've read of Flash to make me like Wally (New52 Wally) but damn it, I did haha.
So Flash is still running around being Mr. Flashly Flash. Cheesy things like "That's A Flash Fact!" and all that. However the key plot point in here is training kid Flash (Wally New52) and getting him to learn about himself. Actually, I'd argue this is a bigger growth volume for Wally over Barry. We get to see New52 Wally meet Pre-52 Wally and kind of learn a bit more about how to be a sidekick. On top of that we get a adventure with Shade! Yeah, nobody cares about him but it brings some lessons and new powers for New52 Wally. last but not least we get a day where Barry is taking out Iris on a date and Wally handles the street side of things.
Good: I liked Wally! He's starting to really grow on me. I didn't like him at all in New52 run but here, him growing into his own unique character, is really nice. I still love Pre-new52 red head Wally the most (even more than Barry) but the character growth for Kid Flash is good. I also enjoyed that Barry and iris decided to try to work this relationship out (and my boy got laid! Woot woot)
Bad: The art is really inconstant. I also don't know if it's the same artist as volume 1, which I enjoyed, but this seems a bit more sloppy. I also didn't care for the middle storyline, the main one, because shade is kind of a boring character. Kind of felt slower paced and not good for a Flash story.
Overall not a horrible story but I liked volume 1 better. Kid Flash is growing on me but we can do a lot more with Barry. We must! However this is good for what it is. A 3 out of 5.

This is probably the weakest arc in detective comics so far.
Saying that this isn't all bad.
The first issue starts with Spoiler. Stephanie is not taking Tim's death well. She decides to be a hero without being a "superhero". Meaning she'll save people but give the cops full credit and act like she was never there. The rest of the volume focuses mostly on Azurla (or however spell his dumbass name) and also Batman and Zatanna going to the past and speaking of how they were once friends and the secrets it all holds. The ending comes down to a big battle that finally reveals some secrets to Batman that he needed to know.
Good: As always the art is pretty good. I had no issues here, especially the fight scenes becoming better and better. I also enjoyed Batman and Zatanna conversations throughout all this. I liked the first issue as well with Stephanie to get a whole issue of her. Last but not least the ending sets up some exciting future things to come.
Bad: Azareal or whatever is so lame. I'm sorry, he just is. I feel no pity for him in this arc, and I feel no attachment, and sadly this whole volume really focuses on him. So it's the least appealing in terms of what came before. I also think they could do so much more with the cast here where's previous volumes used them well they felt like plot devices here.
Overall this arc was around a 2.5 but due to the ending and first issue I'll bump it to a 3. It's not as good as volume 1-2 but I believe we'll get back to greatness now that a certain someone seems to be returning. A 3 out of 5 right now!

Talk about a nice improvement. Sam Humphries be killin it now days .
So Jessica and Simon are starting to get along better. I love the brother/sister type situation they're in. I also love the fact Simon is trying to redeem himself from his past while Jessica is learning to deal with her anxiety and self doubt. They're both horrible things that everyday people deal with but watching then do that on top of their jobs as Lanterns is great. Now we have a new Ring wielder who gains the Phantom Ring. This ring basically has all the different emotions into one ring making it extremely powerful but very very dangerous. Together the two Green Lanterns of earth must figure a way to help this new user before shit gets really bad.
Good: Really enjoyed Jessica and Simon's natural growth. It isn't going to happen over night. Them dealing with their own issues but working together has to form naturally. I also enjoyed the Phantom Ring storyline a lot and the background was pretty interesting. The way the Lanterns handle it isn't the norm of superhero beatdowns either which I liked.
Bad: The ending was kind of cliche. Okay very very cliche, but I'm hoping Sam knows how to spice it up some which I think he does.
Overall highly entertaining and fun read. Sam obviously loves this universe and characters and decides to create some great stories with it. A 4 out of 5.

This is by far the best Nightwing book in the series so far. Tim Seeley hooks you in with the best pairing in the world. Damien and Richard for LIFE!
So this starts off picking up the end of volume 2. Our girl Tsang is kidnapped but not before letting know Dick she might be Prego. So on his way home he is ambushed by Damien. The son of Batman is mad people are claiming that Richard will become Batman once more. However, once Nightwing finds out that his girlfriend is missing Damien joins him on a quest to get her back. This leads to some old villains, big showdowns, and big revelations by the end. We also get a one shot of Wally Flash and Nightwing on their night out as bros.
Good: The dialog is very throwback to the days of Batman and Robin when Damien and Dick teamed up. It's perfect balance of chemistry and jealously but you can always feel the brother relationship. The villain is actually pretty scary as he was before. Then we also have a nice little one shot with Wally and Dick just chilling and having fun.
Bad: The art sometimes can be iffy, especially in that one shot. Also, the final villain doing the whole "Look into your deepest fears" feels played out.
Overall this was great. Damien and Dick together is magic. The last few pages with them bring back SO many great memories. I wish they'd have a book of these two badass characters teaming up more. A 4 out of 5.

Well this series is always refreshing and fun. Sometimes it doesn't always connect but I have enjoyed this series so far. This volume though, in my honest opinion, finally gets to the "great" status I knew it could.
So the start is a bit confusing, as always, but once you catch the flow you're good to go. Slade doing some terrible things of course to his family that reveals how fucked up he really is. When Slade goes to get his suit back afterwards something bad happens and Slade meets a young lady who is a superhero. POWER GIRL! And together they begin to fight crime? Yeah it's both odd and funny but works, until a sudden twist. When it all comes down to it this volume ends in family drama and in a very fucked up way.
Good: Love the ending. It really is truly screwed up but reminds me so much of how family can hurt you most. The introduction of Power Girl was great and she's really fun. The twist with what happens to slade was unique and fun. The fights were entertaining and slade being a true dick really makes it entertaining.
Bad: As always it's a bit confusing at first. It's the least confusing of the three but it's still kind of confusing.
Overall this was great. I'm really enjoying Priest style with deathstroke. He really understands the character and makes some interesting choices. This is one to check out people!
