Flash continues it "solid" and "fun" run. I'll say right now this run is better than New52 for sure but it's not hitting the highs it did for volume 1.
Volume 1 to me remains the strongest. Art wise, story wise, villain (Godspeed <3) and more made it all worth really well. Volume 2 was cheesier but felt well done for Kid Flash. This volume has some great moments otherwise mixed with okayness.
So Barry decides to take on the rogues once more. You think they will outsmart the Flash! Well they almost do but this is the Flash people so come on. Also we have more about kid Flash. He wants to learn about his father. If you read Suicide Squad you know his father joined the team and like the name of the team did die protecting kids. It was actually a solid ending to a otherwise meh character but it leads into Wally figuring out who he is.
Good: The stuff with the rogues was fun if not a bit predictable. The stuff with kid flash was solid and I like the path the boy is going on. He's trying to figure out who he is and what he is and in doing so goes through ups and downs. I also like the direction for Barry and Iris for sure.
Bad: The art is starting to look a little funky. Especially the faces. Also while both storylines are fun they lack impact. I thought volume 1 had some impact that shaped up the run, this felt little too "every week episode on tv" type feel.
Overall this is fun volume that I suggest for Flash fans. If you've been enjoying this run this will continue that for you. If you're looking for something new this doesn't do that. A 3 out of 5.

Drink and become superman. Sounds like a easy deal, right?
Well we got our main character here, names himself Ruben in front of people in his AA Meeting but he is not that. He is not what he appears actually. He isn't drinking because when he does he becomes a Superman type of fighter except a lot more violent. I mean arms, legs, heads ripped off body type of hero. So he decides no more. He wants to go straight. Wants to live a normal life. However, villains won't let that happen so easy. With a sneak attack, dealing with lost love, and a final showdown with a nice twist BuzzKiller contains everything that should make it a homerun. Is it though?
Good: I enjoyed the art. Scratchy but worked for the style. I enjoyed the main lead. He had a terrible outlook on life but so what? It's the cards he's dealt. I also enjoyed the first showdown as it felt like their were actually stakes.
Bad: The series goes very dark. Like, yes, the material should be but damn is it depressing at times. A lot of people die, and quickly, and brutally. The ending doesn't leave off at a happy note (did you expect it to?) and I could see some people finding it too dark to stomach.
Overall it's short and interesting take on the superhero genre. It's not perfect, but it's not bad, I enjoyed my time with it. Around a 2.5-3 out of 5.

Whoa, yeah...if any series gonna make you feel depressed after it's going to be a Tom King series. From Omegamen to Vision the dude sure knows how to hit on the feels.
So Chris Henry, a police officer, comes to Babylon to try and start up or fix the policing of the area. When one of his people goes missing and then is killed he decides to investigate. With the help of a local they begin their mission. Two very different men, from very different cultures, team up in almost a buddy cop way but with interesting views on the world. Then it goes into darker territory and backgrounds of each character, including the side cast, and does it nearly flawless.
Good: The story's pacing is perfect. It sucks you in from the start and as you learn more and more about each character, each dark secret, you begin to see them as real people. Not fictional stereotypes but actual real people. I'd bet Tom King based some of these characters off actual people he met over there. The case, investigation, is intriguing from the very start but by the end it truly boils down to a great last few words said by a person who sees the world very differently than us.
Bad: The story is extremely downer and not for everyone. Dialog heavy and more focused on people and their views and ideas then any big shoot up. This is a positive for me, but the darker, more realistic take, isn't for everyone.
Overall this wonderfully drawn, very well written title, deserves all the praise it has gotten. I can't believe it took me so long to read it. A 4 out of 5.

I have never read anything Wild Storm, WildCat whatever it used to be. I picked this up actually for the art, but so glad I did.
So Warren Ellis takes characters that were created in the 90's and kind of revamps or remakes them. IN doing so we have a few different organizations all going at each other. They all feel top secret military/government shit. However, the story becomes to go different directions with different characters. The story really opens with a woman looking for money to fund her project, a guy comes flying out a window, she rescues him by turning into a mecha type suit (think Iron-man) and then...well shit gets hairy and more and more characters come in and all somehow connect.
Good: Jon Davis-Hunt has some of the best art I've seen. I LOVED Clean Room's art and this is no different. He has some of the best fight scenes I've seen, in perticular issue 5, and shines through here. Also the dialog is pretty tightly done and each person feels like they have their own voice. While not every character connects a lot of them do and by the end I wanted more.
Bad: It's a slower start. It's not always exciting and honestly takes its time to get going. Also some characters are pretty boring, luckily it's a large cast so even if one or two is boring you have plenty to enjoy.
Overall this is a very interesting and fun first volume. I love the world Warren is building and the art by Jon is fantastic. I can't wait to read more and at the moment it's a 3.5 but I'ma bump it to a 4 just for the art alone!

I like Kelly Thompson, she super cool. I like Hawkeye, she's fun. So why didn't I "love" this?
Well this is two arcs here. First is about a missing case. Well it starts off as a girl getting stalked and then goes missing. We slowly find out the reason behind it is a virus of sorts going around, a chemical imbalance, that makes people hate. I believe it's trying to be a metaphor for the internet and how it can be a place filled with hatred and everyone begins to follow like sheep. Least that's what I got, I can be way off. Second story features fan favorite Jessica Jones! That made me very exciting as I love her and she basically is teaching Hawkeye the ways of P.I.
Good: I liked the first story. It was a little heavy handed but worked well mostly due to Kate being super fun with her dialog. Bouncy and easy to get in to with a decent side cast. I also really enjoyed Jessica Jones with Kate, kind of felt like sisters working together. Very cool.
Bad: Not a huge fan of the art. Fells like trying to be Hawkeye Fraction Run a few years back but not as well done. I also thought the storylines kind of went flat by the end. Neither really kept me interested and if wasn't for Kate I probably would have dropped it.
Overall I was kind of let down. I really do love Kate Bishop, and I think Kelly is a solid writer, but I just didn't love it. I still enjoyed it enough to have a good time reading but I can't help but feel it could be way better. I'd give it a 2.5 but I'll bump it to a 3 for Kate and Jessica being great together. Hoping to enjoy Volume 2 better!

This was extremely entertaining. Disturbing sometimes, little silly, but damn fine entertainment.
So Absolution is about a man who's a superhero who has had enough of the bullshit. He works with the police force to stop criminals. Except one day he stumbles upon a guy who is murdering children and replacing their body parts with toy doll parts. It's sick, it's disgusting, and he's had enough. John Dusk is living a broken life, not able to sleep because he sees the death of children and rapes and more from these criminals actions. So in killing these people he's able to be at peace with himself. However, he trying his best to stay off the radar of the cops, a lead detective being his girlfriend.
Good: The storyline is interesting. It doesn't paint either one as the right thing to do. Kill the worse of the worse? Sure the hero of the story believes that, the public does, but others do not. I like the balance, the message, and even the internal struggle between different characters. I also thought the pacing was really nice, quick, and worked well. The design of most of the heroes and villains was also pretty solid.
Bad: The art could be a little wonky and feel very stiff. I also thought the kitty happy person was useless, dumb, and overly sexual for no other reason than panty shots. The dumbest part by far.
Overall though this was a ton of fun. It doesn't cover new ground but it does do it pretty damn well. I enjoyed the cast, the dialog, and the pacing a lot. Besides some stiff art and one horrible character the graphic novel was highly entertaining. A 3.5 out of 5, bump to a 4.

Probably the weakest out of the young animals line so far but still found it pretty enjoyable.
Violet is a character who has similar feel and background as Bruce Wayne. But she's a lot more unhinged, unstable, and pissed off. That might come as a surprise since all those traits apply to Bruce usually too but Violet is a little bit more violent and also a lot more cursing is introduced in Gotham thanks to her. This story focuses on her growth as a new superhero around Gotham while also giving some background which is downright weird. Yes, the whole book is weird with weird characters but the background is especially odd.
Good: I enjoyed the design of Violet, she looked badass both inside and out the costume. The character herself is pretty interesting and more angry version than someone I would expect. The side characters aren't all hits but some are highly entertaining and some side cameos from Batman/Batwoman are great.
Bad: The art can be a bit fuzzy and hard to read. I also thought the story was jarring sometimes with the jumping back and forth between modern time and the past. The fights also, while some good, sometimes hard to understand or see what's happening. Also have no idea where this is going to go.
Overall this is a solid read, with some interesting ideas, but not all connecting just yet. At the moment I'd probably give it a 2.5 but to keep up with the rest of my ratings I'll place it at a 3. I think this line of comics has all ranged from decent to good, so hoping for more!

This was kind of cool. The idea is that the world isn't a simple place anymore. After Infinite Crisis everything is getting darker, meaner, and Justice Society is no exception.
This was kind of a cool bridge comic. As if like saying "hey new heroes, we need you" but the thing is you might not know of any of these characters or least a few of them. It's all about getting a new crew of Justice Society members, both young and old members going together. Legacies getting passed down. New villains popping up. It's all like a rebirth in a sense, and introduces you to a very new, and bigger, Justice Society than before.
Good: The art direction is solid and some really screwed up deaths and fight scenes here. The characters all bounce from each other nice, and some of these heroes I never even heard of, remain interesting.
Bad: The story feels like you should know the background a little. Because it throws you right in, with a death, but you probably won't feel much without knowing these characters. Also, sometimes the art feels outdated even though at this time we can offer way better.
Overall this was a interesting start. I didn't love it, but it was solid enough to get me interested in checking out volume 2. A 3 out of 5.
