Holy hell I forgot how good Gantz gets later. So spoilers for those who haven't read up until this point. Stop reading. Okay ready? Everyone is dead except Kei. He's trying to deal with it the best he could. Act like nothing matters to him. Except this time he's thrown into a hunt without ANY teammates. NO NEW ONES. He faces off against these ugly little dudes with big ass hands ready to whoop his ass. This volume breaks up that plus heading back to the real world. That's right this hunt is super short but action packed!

The second half involves Kei back in the real world pretty scared to go back into the world of Gantz. He just has had enough. Except these aliens or monsters aren't done with him yet. What happens when they cross into our world? OH SHIT!

What I liked: The fight between the new enemy is scary as hell. Kei is alone and we know this series doesn't mind killing off main characters. There's one moment in particular where I was like "Yep this is the end" but NOPE! We are saved. Also the classroom scene is...wow. I love the commentary on death too. Also the final few moments of this chapter are horrifying and wonderful.

What I didn't like. Some of the chapters feel so short because it just has Kei jumping from building to building. The first two chapters are insanely short and give off an impression this volume won't be that good.

Overall Gantz is hitting into high gear and you can see changes in Kei happening slowly. Sure he's still selfish prick but sometimes you see that shell break and see he cares. There's one moment too when he becomes a hero and it's pretty awesome. This is a high 4 out of 5 for me.

This was pretty enjoyable. I was debating between a 3 or a 4. It has some really awesome dialog. It's also really interesting art design. The story is about two best friends basically just chilling and going around their city in the 90's trying to figure out life. Cursing, sex, and other wonderful subjects are thrown into the mix and it makes for a real chilled, laid back, fun little graphic novel.

What I liked: The characters play off each other great. Their best friends and the way they interact feel REAL. I also enjoy teh art design. Everyone is pretty ugly but it works for this style of story. I also love the pacing as there's very little boring moments so that's always nice.

What I didn't like: The amount of cursing was a little TOO much. I come from a very happy cursing family. I cursed since I was 2. However, fuck and shit, and cunt, and dick are thrown in every line here. It's a bit much. I also thought the story jumped a lot and there was no real plot. It's basically a plot about nothing.

Overall Ghost World was pretty fun and think I'll remember it has a unique graphic novel but I doubt I'll remember it 10 years from now from scene to scene. I do want to see the movie now though.

Close to another 4 for this series but I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed it as much as the first. This title takes a father and daughter trying to survive being hunted. This sounds like a perfect story for me. I love family bonding and trying to survive so why didn't I love this? A story about a man just trying to protect his daughter from savages while mercicelly murdering others in defense? Sounds like a win for James.

What I liked: The viciousness of the father never feels like he kills for pleasure (except one part) and I liked that. I also enjoyed that the people chasing him aren't so "bad" but they are the other side of the story. The people trying to survive and make a living by hunting this Irish father and daughter. I also enjoyed the ending as I don't like all my stories ending "happy ever after". This one don't play that shit. And the artwork is still very solid.

What I didn't like: some of the characters didn't connect with me. I liked the father, but didn't love him. The twist was also easy to see coming. It did catch me slightly off guard cause of the way it was shown but the idea I caught in the first issue. I also thought it was too short as compared to the first volume.

Overall Northlanders is still very very entertaining. While this is weaker than the last volume it still makes me eager to continue. If this is the worst of the bunch, which I hear it is, I'm in for a real treat!

Ever read a comic so bad you had to stop? Welcome to Aquaman: Volume 7 Exhiled. Cullen Bunn takes over. This might have been good because the last writer was just making 'Okayish" stories. So why not give a new writer a shot? Inject some life into a series that needed it. WRONG. This is the wrong kind of shot the series needed. It's edgy, over the top, silliness. Aquaman is getting attacked by his own people including Mara for the dumbest fucking reason. Once I got to the reveal I stopped reading (about 5 issues in) and just threw this one back into the Library bin.

What I liked: Nothing.

What I didn't like: Everything. Dumb dialog. Aquaman being "edgy and funny" but neither really. Mera being dumb as fuck. The whole empire of atlantis being stupid. The idea behind this is just really weird and doesn't make sense. The art is very very ugly.

Yeah. This might be one of the worst comics I've read this year. This is a must SKIP.

I probably should have read the first volume to fully understand this Iron-man. Screw it. He's never been one of my favorite superheroes and I read enough Ultimates to get this is a very different Tony Stark. Except, this Tony is really different. He's very young, his limbs grow back (Why? I dunno), and he doesn't seem all that smart. It's very hard to get used to it at first and when him and Rhodes go on a mission together to stop mysterious "war weapons" it gets overlong and boring.

What I liked: I actually dig the character designs. I like how Iron-man is bulkier, just looks cooler to me. Also thought Tony had some funny lines...some.

What I didn't like: The overcomplicated plot. Especially coming from Scott Card who's done Ender's game which I LOVED. Also waaaaay too much banter from EVERY character and not all of them work. Also the creepy dude who likes to be touched and perverted was waaaaay to try hard. Oh and fuck the ending.

Yeah this is kind of a mess. The art is pretty awesome but the rest I could have left at home. This Tony doesn't even act like the one from Ultimates. A 2/5.

This was pretty interesting. Superman is almost always in a positive light. Besides Red Son or Injustice he basically is the "Good guy" everyone looks up to. He's all about hope, about helping, and about fighting for a better future. He's our protector. Lex obviously doesn't see him that way. What makes this story interesting is you see the perception of Lex and how Superman can come across as evil. On top of that you get a pretty cool flashback of Bruce vs Clark (which I assume is when they first meet) to show how scary Superman really could be. Lex creates a creature/robot called Hope to combat Superman. Not one on one but as a symbol of protection.

What I liked: Watching Lex and his view of the world and how he's not all bad. He actually is very humanized in here and somewhat likeable. I really enjoyed the art design and they made Superman pretty freaking scary. I also enjoyed the hope storyline though the ending not so much but before that it was nice.

What I didn't like: The Batman vs Superman scene was a bit confusing at first. I also thought Lex had too much talking to himself haha. It was really short too which was a bummer. Another 2 issues would have flushed out Lex more.

Overall this was a unique and different take on Superman. It's a Lex story for sure but still feels like a Superman, just the other side of the coin. I liked it just didn't love it so it stands at a 2.5-3. Check it out if for nothing else then the sweet art.

So yeah, I asked myself while reading this WHY I'm reading this. It's coming to the point where I'm trying to see if I'm just hurting myself here. Like reading this to make myself hate myself. Like James, do you hate yourself? You know New52 Action comics was mostly trash. Why try to read Superman, which is considered even worse by 99% of people. I dunno...I guess I just hope I enjoy it. Did I? HELL F'ing NO.

What I liked: Uhhh nothing? I guess Superman has some funny lines and love him being Younger so he like "Hurry it the fuck up losers" but that's it.

What I didn't like: What kind of villains are these? So bland and boring. On top of that this art is UGLY. I especially hated the last issue. So bad. That hair. Ewwww. And this story just feels lifeless. No connection to any character. Talk about Alien. Ugh.

Yeah. I'm seriously done with this run. I'm not wasting my time ANYMORE. A 1/5.

This might be one of my favorite comics I've ever read from DC. I can see why some might not like it. It retcons things, it changes the past of characters, and it's far darker than most DC comics. When Elongated Man's wife is murdered every superhero (well almost every) goes on a hunt to find out who it is. This is when we begin to dig deep into the past of the JLA.

The main characters of this series (or event I guess) are Green Arrow/Wally/Tim Drake/Bruce/Clark. They get the most attention anyway. They are all effected the most by the events except for Elongated Man because, obviously, his wife died. However the events that happen here truly hit the characters above the most. Green Arrow being the narrative of most of the story and now most can see why I LOVE Ollie. He's good in nature but logical in others, and sometimes he has to make tough choices other heroes can't.

This is a murder mystery. Besides a (Badass) fight with Deathstroke and small one with Boomrang this event has very very little fighting. WHich is why I love it so much. I enjoyed Infinite Crisis alot for it's over the top fights and pacing but this is much slower and more calculated and honestly I LOVE the pacing in it. So be prepared this is a slowburn but it's worth the payoff.

What I liked: Love seeing the League deal with morally difficult decisions. Especially in the past. Thought the ending was really well done, if not sad, and I didn't guess the killer at all when I should have, and that's a good twist/reveal. The fights, while small, are amazing. Which brings me to the artwork, which is top notch, and some shots made me stare just at the page for a minute or two (Looking at you funeral shot). I also thought the narrative and pacing was also interesting and using Ollie was a great idea.

What I didn't like: I loved just about everything. Yeah the retcon was a little off and some old school fans might hate but that's about it.

Overall this is one of the books to come out and surprise the heck out of me. I know it's old but glad I read alot of DC before this. It made me feel for all the characters at some point and it hit me harder. This is a great book that I'd suggest AFTER you read a good amount of DC. A 4.5/5.

Well this should have been way more fun than it was. A whole class is put into a popularity contest to see who the best girl (and guy) is! When the votes begin to happen then...death arises! Kids being killed off Final Destination style. One by one the votes flood in and kids keep dying, no one can stop it, and the main character(s) do try! However...as fun as this sounds...it isn't all that. WHY!? I will tell you!

What I liked: The art is pretty good. Not mindblowing but easy to tell characters apart. I also like the idea of this. It's a idea I had in mind similar with cell phone type game but this didn't push it far enough. Anyway the idea that something or someone is tracking them down and trying to murder you is very very cool but it's all about the style in which way to do it.

What I didn't like: The deaths are unoriginal. The fan service is a bit annoying. Like yeah, I love boobs. Boobs are life. But why show a girl walking around naked at home when it adds NOTHING to the plot. Like if she was to be killed that way, or shown something terrible, or attacked sure! But she just sitting washing her boobies and I'm like "Why?" Also the pacing is slow despite people dying you don't get attached. That's thanks to the mehish horror writing that you'd hope to expect more of now days with a lot of horror movies trying to get back to the roots. Meaning giving us a reason to care about characters. Lacking big time here.

Overall this was a disappointing title. I expected way more and was so let down. I know Japan can do better. Future Diary was perfect example of pushing the genre of horror and giving us an engaging story. This was anything but that. A big let down. A 1.5-2/5.

I almost went with a 2 star for this one. If it wasn't for the last two stories I would have. The first story revolves around a young lad helping vikings take over his city because his father and brother are dicks. Then we have a one shot of a warriors fighting till the bitter end. Then we have a story of 3 women fighting off a horde of angry Saxons after they murdered one of their men. Last story brings us back to Sven as he's much older with his wife and two children.

What I liked: Loved Sven story. While short it added a epilogue of sorts to a character we enjoyed a lot from volume 1. His ending and fight is both gritty, scary, and well told. The story about the three women defending themselves on a base against the horde of men was great. Showed how well you can survive if you work together and wait on tactic instead of battle. I loved the ending and was nice to see some happiness in these stories. The art is still top notch as well.

What I didn't like: I didn't favor the first story much. I never got attached to the young kid despite his parent and brother being total dicks. I also didn't care enough when he became older and that we were supposed to like him? Maybe later but these two part issues didn't do much. I HATED the one shot issue of the warriors fighting. WAY too much talking, neither character clicked for me, and I just felt BORED as hell reading it.

The first half was pretty boring/bad but the second half for sure made up for it. If they were split the first half is around a 1.5 where the second half is around a 4.5. So I'ma settle around a 3. Hoping we get more like the second half, less like the first half.
