Kind of between a 3 and 4. I really dug the art, but the story kind of fell apart by the end. I think the idea of seeing someone commit a terrible crime can be really well done. And the fact we can try to change that outcome, and maybe make that person not kill someone, is really interesting. But overall I feel it didn't pack the emotional punch I was hoping for when I was first reading it. Still, well worth the read for the art alone and solid characters.
SO good.
Basically opens with the death of a hero. This hero though was part of a group of friends growing up. He was badly beaten to death and now this group of friends meets together to figure out what happened, and they believe one of them is the killer in the group. It's very watchmen like, but not nearly as depressing. More exciting and more mystery feel. I'll be checking out the rest of the issues as they release.

James REALLY gets these characters.
Basically the turtles get sucked into Gotham and are trying to stop shredder from being his normal evil self. Batman and the turtles meet, become friends, train together, and work to stop the evil shredder and most of Batman's rogue gallery. It's fun, goofy at times, kind of bloody which I liked, but the best part is each character's voice sounded like the real one from each series. Also the art? AWESOME. Some really good fights and cool poses. Overall well worth the reading, the only negative is sometimes a bit wordy when not needed. James has gotten a lot better about that in the last few years.

The story is great, but the art? SO fucking good. Everything worked for me in this issue and getting to figure out if he really did commit murder before becoming the Spectre while dealing with racism and police cover ups makes it extremely relatable 30+ years later.
Invincible, Vol. 2: Eight is Enough
Matt Roberts, Erik Larsen, Bill Crabtree, Cory Walker, Cliff Rathburn, Mark Englert, Tony Moore, Robert Kirkman, Dave Johnson, Terry Stevens, Ryan Ottley
Re-reading this years later gets me so excited for volume 3. Volume 2 is like the calm before the storm.
So we get a little bit more of Mark's life. How he's balancing being a teenager who just got his powers and his school life, and maybe even some of his love life? Yeah buddy, this is a coming of age story with lots of cool powers and fucked up twist. So if you haven't picked up on that yet you probably should.
The big moment in here is the "Justice League" wannabe team gets slaughtered. No bullshit "Who done it" because they show you it's none other than Mark's father! OH NO! But he's still playing the game of pretending he's hunting whoever did this. So you question what the hell is happening and what's his agenda.
If only you knew. I do know...cause I read this. But yeah.
So again another solid volume, and I remember enjoying this more and more the first time. I should too, cause this motherfucker bout to explode into greatness! A 3.5/5

Great first issue!
Art was awesome throughout, especially the first showing of the New Ghost Rider, EPIC!!!
Overall solid dialogue, Danny is a bit of a pussy but I know he'll grow. I'm excited to see how involved Kingpin is in this story. I'm excited to dive deeper in the Ghost Rider world.

The followup to the first story is pretty strong.
This time we have Batman jump into the Ninja Turtles world. It's a cool reverse, and Batman and Damien having to help the turtles defeat bane. The making fun of Bane never gets old, and the fights are epic here. Some of the art is a little TOO much EXTREME and also the dialogue can go on and on sometimes too long. But overall a very solid followup at a 3.5. I'll bump it to a 4.

Not as good as part 1 or 2 but still fun.
So instead of Batman going into the TMNT world, or TMNT going into Batman's world, we have a new universe where Bruce was raised by Splinter with the turtles as his brothers. It's a unique idea but one that doesn't fully work for me. Mostly cause it's just a rehash of same villains but slightly different, I think all new villains and world would have been more fun.
But overall it's decent fun multiverse storyline that is probably better than it has any right to be. A 3 out of 5.

And so comes the end of my Superman New 52 reading run. Some real shitty issues at the start, some solid ones in the middle, some even great single moments, but overall bumpy.
This is the end of the New52 Superman and for the most part it's satisfying if not hurried along. It's no "Death of Peter Parker" from Ultimate universe, but it's still solid enough. Watching the strongest hero slowly die was both interesting and actually the best part of the story. Him trying to come to terms with fading away, not being able to help people, was heartbreaking and sad but felt right.
The side stuff going on in the issues, the main cause of Superman's death, all felt very rushed and no real "meat" to it. The reason he dies is a little meh where his actual death is decent.
Overall, just like the entire run, some good, some shit, some bad. But it's still not awful.
Let's hope Rebirth is crazy good instead of just meh most of the time. 2.5 out of 5.

This volume is def better than the last but not quite a 4 yet. Basically you begin to get introduced to all the friends which turn out to be pretty good characters, especially the guy. I also really dug the mom, she became a instant favorite by the end. I think the main character still a bit too wimpy for the overall tone but getting better.
